“Patanga”(1949) was a Varma Films production. It was directed by H S Rawail and the starcast had names like Shyam, Nigar Sultana, Cuckoo, Yakub, Gope, Purnima, Randhir, Mohana, Ramesh Sinha, Shyama, Raj Mehra etc in it.
“Patanga” (1949) was a musical blockbuster extraordinaire. A few of its songs have gone on to become iconic songs. The evergreen song Mere piya gaye rangoon wahan se kiya hai telephoon is from this movie.
I have discussed as many as six songs from this movie in the past. Here is yet another song from the movie.
This song is sung b Lata. Most songs of this movie are picturised as stage songs and this song is no exception. This song is picturised on Nigar Sultana and she gives this performance in a house full hall where one can see Shyam and a few others seated among the audience.
