As iconic songs go, this song is as iconic as any. I in fact was under the impression that this song was already discussed and that too long back. But I was wrong of course.
So here is another song of the popular category, viz. “how come this song was not discussed earlier !” category. 😀
The song is sung by Manna and Lata. Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan. What fantastic lyrics, what wonderful singing, what remarkable music ! And the picturisation of the song takes oned breath away. It is one of the most well kmown rain songs of all time which shows Raj Kapoor and Nargis in rain, with just one umbrella between them. Raj Kapoor tries to give the umbrella to Nargis, and she gives it back to him, and in the end both of them find themselves under the same umbrella, though it does not prevent them from getting drenched.
One of the most memorable part of the song is where the duo sing
main na rahoongi
tum na rahoge
phir bhi rahengi nishaaniyan
and we see three kids walking away, wearing rain coats as well as holding umbrellas. They are the three sons of Raj Kapoor and it was their first screen appearance in a Hindi movie.
Here is this iconic song from “Shree 420” (1955). Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.
Song-Pyaar huaa iqraar hua hai (Shree 420)(1955) Singers-Manna Dey, Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
pyaar hua
iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
pyaar hua
iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
kehta hai dil
rasta mushkil
maaloom nahin hai kahaan manzil
kehta hai dil
rasta mushkil
maaloom nahin hai kahaan manzil
pyaar hua
iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
kehta hai dil
rasta mushkil
maaloom nahin hai kahaan manzil
aaa aaa aaa
pyaar hua iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
kaho ke apni preet ka
geet na badlega kabhi
tum bhi kaho is raah ka
meet na badlega kabhi
pyaar jo toota
saath jo chhoota
chaand na chamke ga kabhi
aahaha aahaha aahaha aaa aaa
pyaar hua iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
kehta hai dil
rasta mushkil
maaloom nahin hai kahaan manzil
aaaa aaaa aaaa
pyaar hua
iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
raaten dason dishaaon se
kahengi apni kahaaniyan
geet hamaare pyaar ke
dohraayengi jawaaniyan
main na rahoongi
tum na rahoge
phir bhi rahengi nishaaniyan
pyaar hua
iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
kehta hai dil
rasta mushkil
maaloom nahin hai kahaan manzil
kehta hai dil
rasta mushkil
maaloom nahin hai kahaan manzil
aaa aaa aaaa
pyaar hua iqraar hua hai
pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil

Atul ji,
These three children are not three boys of Raj Kapoor.
Because Rajiv (third son) born in 1962.
Here; Randhir born in 1947, Ritu Kapoor (Later Nanda) born in 1948, Rishi in 1952, Reema in 1956, Rajiv in 1962.
So they are the children of Raj Kapoor…not three boys.
This is my opinion but…Please check…before making corrections.
