“Ek Phool Do Maali” (1969) was a Goel Cine Corporation movie. It was produced and dirdcted by Devendra Goel Production. Starcast of the movie included names viz Sanjay Khan, Sadhana, Balraj Sahni, Shabnam, Bobby, Manorama, Shyam Kumar, Brahmachari, Brahm Bharadwaj, Praveen Paul, Abu Baker, David Abraham, Durga Khote etc.
This movie had a story that tugged at the heartstrings of the audience. This, helped by superb music ensured that movie watchers thronged to the movie in droves. I of course did not watch the movie, but I would have loved to watch this movie during its initial run. I finally watched the movie in 1979 during its rerun and I loved the movie even then.
I thought that I had discussed all the great songs from this movie. But I just now noticed that the song from the movie which kids like me loved the most during 1969 when this movie was released was not yet discussed. Yes, the fun song “ye parda hata do” was a much loved song among pre teen kids for its lyrics which were good fun to listen to.
Here is this wonderful song from “Ek Phool Do Maali” (1969). It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Sanjay Khan and Sadhana.
Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Ravi composed the music.
The video of the song is quite a watered down version of the full audio as it had some fun lines missing from it. I have included the full audio version of the lyrics here though I have not been able to find the full audio version of the song. I could have uploaded it but at present I am hamstrung by the absence of tools of the trade at my disposal at the moment. So enjoy the video version of the song for the time being.

Lyrics
Yeh parda hata do
zara mukhda dikha do
yeh parda hata do
zara mukhda dikha do
hum pyaar karne waale hain
koi gair nahin
arre hum tum pe marne waale hain
koi gair nahin
O Majnu ke naana
mere peechhe na aana
jaa pyaar karne waale
teri khair nahin
arre o hum pe marne waale
teri khair nahin
yeh parda hata do
zara mukhda dikha do
hum pyaar karne waale hain,
koi gair nahin
arre hum tum pe marne waale hain koi gair nahin
yeh parda hata do
ek to soorat pyaari
upar se gusse ki laali
bachna ae dil aaj hai koi
bijli girne waali
ek to soorat pyaari
upar se gusse ki laali
bachna ae dil aaj hai koi
bijli girne waali
yeh bijli giri to
tumhi pe giregi
jaa pyaar karne waale teri khair nahin
arre o hum pe marne waale teri khair nahin
yeh parda hata do,
zara mukhda dikha do
hum pyaar karne waale hain
koi gair nahin
arre hum tum pe marne waale hain
koi gair nahin
yeh parda hata do
shukhr karo ke pade nahin hain
meri maa ke dande
ek haath mein ho jaate
armaan tumhaare thande
shukhr karo ke pade nahin hain
meri maa ke dande
ek haath mein ho jaate
armaan tumhaare thande
maa ko bhi samjha do
bas itna bata do
hum pyaar karne waale hain,
koi gair nahin
arre hum tum pe marne waale hain
koi gair nahin
O Majnu ke naana
mere peechhe na aana
jaa pyaar karne waale
teri khair nahin
arre o hum pe marne waale
teri khair nahin
yeh parda hata do
jahaan miley do jawaan nazar
hoti taqraar wahin hai
dilpar rakhkar haath yeh keh do
humse pyaar nahin hai
jahaan miley do jawaan nazar
hoti taqraar wahin hai
dilpar rakhkar haath yeh keh do
humse pyaar nahin hai
dil ki baatein dilwaale
nazron se hi pehchaante
dil ki baatein dilwaale
nazron se hi pehchaante
lekin kuchh aise hain anaari
jo yeh bhi na jaante
yeh pehle bataate
baaraat leke aate
hum pyaar karne waale hain
koi gair nahin
arre hum tum pe marne waale hain
koi gair nahin
O Majnu ke naana
hum pyaar karne waale hain
koi gair nahin
arre hum tum pe marne waale hain
koi gair nahin
yeh parda hata do

Oh I enjoyed the movie despite its rather morose second half, because the fun parts in the begining. This is lovely song with crazy lyrics.

Any idea if the song was really as brief in the movie as it is in the link provided here ? I have only heard the audio and watching the severely edited video appears quite tame in comparison to the full audio. Imagine me liking the audio more than the video despite the charishma of Sadhana and err Sanjay Khan. 🙂

I think video walon ki kainchi is worse than the censor’s kainchi. 😀 I saw the movie as a kid so it’s hard to remember, but I am pretty sure that the entire song was shot, makes sense does it not?

I had seen this movie when it was released in 1969 but I am not able to recollect whether the full lyrics was used in picturisation.
Here is the audio link of the full lyrics : http://youtu.be/5I8Ko6n8C80
