I have discussed as many as six songs from “Shree 420” (1955) but it seems that a few songs from this movie are yet to be discussed.
Here is one such song. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nargis. This separation song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Song-O jaane waale mudke zara dekhte jaana (Shree 420)(1955) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
tumhen qasam hai
mere dil ko yoon na tadpaao
o o o
yeh iltija hai ke
mud mud ke dekhte jaao
o jaane waale
mud ke zara dekhte jaana
zara dekhte jaana
o jaane waale
mud ke zara dekhte jaana
zara dekhte jaana
dil tod ke to chal diye
mujh ko na bhulana
zara dekhte jaana
fariyaad kar rahi hain
khaamosh nigaahen
khaamosh nigaahen
fariyaad kar rahi hain
khaamosh nigaahen
khaamosh nigaahen
aansoo ki tarah aankh se
mujh ko na giraana
zara dekhte jana
o jaane waale
mud ke zara dekhte jaana
zara dekhte jaana

Here she says Mud Mud Ke Dekhte Jaana, and he is coming from a club where Nadira sang Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh! What a wonderful composition. Raj Kapoor had this knack of making songs integral part of his films. He not only visualised every scene before taking, he also saw the music before it was recorded and choose words that brought out the true feelings of the characters. remember the Awara song Ghar Aaya Mera Perdeshi…
