“Resham”(1952) is by now an obscure movie. This Jubilee pictures presentation was directed by Lekhraj Bhakri. The movie had Jairaj, Suraiyya, Sunder, Sapru, Baby Naaz, Achla Sachdev, Khurshid, Ramesh Thakur, Jagdish etc in it.
Here is a rare song from this movie. This song is a duet sung by Rafi and Madhubala Jhaweri. The song is that curious genre of song that that I call “remonstrating against the almighty” genre. In this genre of song, the singers calls the almighty names, hoping that the almighty will mend his ways as a result. 🙂 This is a typical north Indian way of managing things where it is often believed that you can get the best out of a person by humiliating him. 🙂 I do not thing this ploy works, but there are believers of this method, including movie makers, seeing how many songs of this genre are there in Hindi movies and also in this blog.
Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Hansraj Bahl composed the music. Only the audio of this song is available so it is difficult to guess how and on whom this song is picturised. I reques our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

An old fashioned word for this genre is ninda stuti, I think
