“Ishaara” (1964) was an Amarnath Production movie. It was produced and directed by K Amarnath. The movie had Joy Mukherjee, Vyjayanthimala, Jayant, Subbiraj, Azra, Pratima Devi, Agha, Pran, Shammi, Sajjan, Murad, Praveen Paul, Hari Shivdasani, Kesari, Raja Amrohi, Ruby Meyers, Brahm Bhardwaj, Prem Sagar, Amrit Rana, Ravikant etc in it.
I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past.
Here is another song from “Ishaara” (1964). This song is a Rafi Lata duet. It is picturised on Joy Mukherji and Vyjyanti Mala as a stage dance which is watched by a housefull audience. I have noticed that all these stage dance performances in Hindi movies always had full house, and the main characters not on the stage were always seated on the front row . 🙂
If one guesses the music director by the music, then one may guess it to be Laxmikant Pyarelal’s music. It is Kalyanji Ananji’s music and Laxmikant Pyarelal used to be their asistants, so the music resembling the music of Laxmikant Pyarelal in this song is no coincidence.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.

Atul, this can be categorised as a “Been” song, don’t you think?
To me it sounds more Shankar-Jaikishany than LP-ey.
And there is this small thing of a missing tag, wink wink.

Kalyanji was a ‘been’ expert. Remember, he played the famous ‘been’ in NAGIN when he was assistant to Hemant Kumar. All these music directors, L-P, K-A and, much later, Nadeem Shravan had a distinct ring of Shanker-Jaikishen stamp in their orchestrization. Some songs sung by Mukesh for K-A and L-P are some times confused as S-J compositions.

Another conflicting information is that the “been” in “Nagin”(1954) was played by Ravi, who was the assistant of Hemant Kumar at that time.

Kalyanji’s ‘been’ prowess is also evident in films like “Madari” & “Sunehri Nagin”.
Ravi (as assistant to Hemant Kumar) is usually credited for the iconic Nagin (1954) ‘been’ songs.

I may be wrong as I just saw the credits of NAGIN and found the name Ravi Shankar as Assistant Music Director. But Anandji is around and I intend to check with him and then report.

I used to like this song a lot when I was in school, am seeing the video for the first time. Good to see Joy Mukherjee, never knew he ever paired up with Vyjayantimala.
