Ye mera jaadoo
Posted on: April 25, 2012
Yesterday, I was showing off my knowledge to a couple of regulars of this blog in private by telling them that “Chor Machaaye Shor”(1974) had six songs, and five of them were very well known, but the sixth song was quite less known. Then I boasted that I was going to post this rare song in the blog today.
As can be seen, I was basking in reflected glory. It was Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh who has been providing us the information about movies with missing songs in the blog, otherwise I would have never known about these details. In fact, I had never known about the existence of this sixth song from “Chor Machaaye Shor” (1974) namely “Ye Mera Jaadoo”.
One draws a blank when one tries to look for this song on YT. This song is not at all available on YT, while the other five songs are readily available. If I had to discuss the song, I needed to first locate the song and then get it uploaded. Just the other day I had boasted to the same people privately that I now had two working internet connections. To teach me a lesson, both internet connections decided to play truant. As a result, I had a hard time locating this song and getting it in my computer. It took me whole night ! And then it had to be converted into an uploadable form. After that it had to be uploaded. This uploading that should normally take a few minutes took hours and succeeded after several aborted attempts.
Even when I was ready with the upload and all, I found work coming in the way of my blogging. Though I have discussed six songs for the day, this song, which I thought would be a star attraction for the day could not be discussed till now.
It may be late in the evening, but does not matter. I will discuss it today itself.
So here is this sixth and final song from “Chor Machaaye Shor” (1974)I have no idea if the video of the song is available in the DVD/VCD of the movie. Only audio of the song seems to be available.
The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Ravindra Jain is the lyricist as well as the music director.
I have no idea how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the picturisation of this song.
When I heard this song yesterday (for the first time), it did not impress me at all, and it appeared like a pale shadow of the other great songs from the movie. Today when I heard the song again, it sounded better. Perhaps that is how songs become popular- through repeated hearing. In this case, people may not have got the opportunity to listen to this song more enough and that may have resulted in this song failing to take off. The fact that this song had to contend with all time great songs from this movie also contributed in no small measures.
Whatever may be the reason, I am quite pleased with myself in presenting this song to the readers of this blog. If most readers are like me, this will be the first time they too will be listening to this song.
With this song, I can now tick off “Chor Machaaye Shor” (1974) as a movie where all the songs have been covered.
Here is this song ! Listen to it and offer your views on this song.
PS-The same song has been used in “Fakira”(1976) as well.

Same thing happen with Jewel Thief number Hontho pe aise baat. In the Kohinoor theatre, Dadar people decried this song unanimously. But over the period it caught on and it grew over the masses.

Atul ji and others,
The Addenda of HFGK says on page 671 of Vol V, First edition of March 1991-
‘ This song was made for ‘Chor machaye shor’-1974 and even the record was issued for it-LP,EP etc-,but at the last minute it was withdrawn from the film and later included in film ‘Faqeera’-1976 for which also the MD was same-Ravindra Jain.’
This should sort out the issue finally.

But used in AHISTA AHISTA(1981)(starring Padmini kolhapure, shashi kapoor`s first song “Kunaal kapoor”,Nanda,Shammi kapoor)(picturised on Padmini kolhapure)
The producer of both films is SIBTE HASAN RIZVI and banner “NEW WORLD ENTERPRISES”

Thanks Atulji for the song.
This song is growing on me, and still growing on me….growing……
Ravindra jain & asha combination always have a special thing going with it. I am a sucker for these type of song.
I haven`t seen the movie. This song suits perfectly on Helenji or Padma Khanna.
