“Road To Sikkim” (1969) was a Kirti Films Production. It was directed by Ravindra Dave. The movie had Dev Kumar, Anju Mahendru, Helen, Dhumal, Jayant, Asit Sen, Tuntun, Jankidas, David Abraham, Lalita Pawar, etc in it.
This B grade movie, which few people have heard of had A grade music which unfortunately few people knew about.
Here is a song from “Road To Sikkim” (1969) which I heard for the first time only just now. Now, if this is not a gem, then what is a gem. This song is an outstanding song of the highest order.
It is sung by Mukesh. Jalal Malihabadi is the lyricist. Vijay Singhji composed the music. What fantastic lyrics and what superb composition !
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
Song-Tum jahaan ho wahaan kya ye mausam nahin (Road To Sikkim)(1969) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Jalal Malihabadi, MD-Vijay Singhji
Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
tum jahaan ho wahaan
kya yeh mausam nahin
kya nazaare wahaan muskuraate nahin
kya wahaan yeh ghataayen barastin nahin
kya kabhi ham tumhe yaad aate nahin
tum jahaan ho wahaan,
kya yeh mausam nahin
kya nazaare wahaan muskuraate nahin
yeh zamaana hamesha ka bedard hai
dard-e-dil pe koi haath dharta nahin
dil ki fitrat kabhi ek rehti nahin
zindagi bhar wafaa koi karta nahin
phir bhi jaise bhulaaya hai tumne hamen
phir bhi jaise bhulaya hai tumne hamen
iss tarah bhi kisi ko bhulaate nahin
tum jahaan ho wahaan,
kya yeh mausam nahin
kya nazare wahaan muskuraate nahin
dard hai mere dil ka mere geet mein
geet gaataa hoon main
tum mujhe saaz do
raat khaamosh hai
aur tanha hai dil
tum kahaan ho zaraa dil ko aawaaz do
joh guzaare thhe hamne
mohabbat mein din
joh guzaare thhe hamne
mohabbat mein din
kya woh din abb tumhen yaad aate nahin
tum jahaan ho wahaan,
kya yeh mausam nahin
kya nazaare wahaan muskuraate nahin
tum jahaan ho wahaan,
kya yeh mausam nahin

Thanks Sudhirji, Atulji and others who appreciated the songs. Sorry for the late acknowledgement as I am with my mother for her cataract operation at Nandurbar in MS

What a gem you have unearhted. Thanks for bringing up this song. I am hearing it for the first time today, and I am just loving it.
The most magical thing in this song is the voice of Mukesh. Just too good for words.
Thanks again
