Jo chala gaya usse bhool jaa

“Aadmi” (1968) was a S V Films production. It was directed by A Bhim Singh. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Manoj Kumar, Pran, Simi Garewal, Sulochana, Ullhas, Mohan Choti, Agha, etc in it.
As many as four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from this movie.
The audio of this song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Mukesh, whereas the video, which is picturised on Dilip Kumar (looking like Rajendra Kumar in his beard 🙂 ) only has the voice of Mukesh. I wonder if the movie version and the record version of this song were different. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter. Personally I feel that the Mukesh solo version figuring in the movie is more effective that the audio version that has two voices.
PS-The reason why the lip syncer was looking so much like Rajendra Kumar was explained by Prakashchandra. He pointed it out that the movie is not “Aadmi” (1968) but “Saathi” (1968) and it had Rajendra Kumar in it. Yes indeed. The lyrics sender Khyati Bhatt had mentioned the name of the movie as “Saathi” (1968) but I remembered it as “Aadmi” (1968), which is yet another sign that I am well on my way to senility. 🙂 Just imagine confusing “Saathi” with “Aadmi”. Thankfully I do not mistake the song “Aadmi hoon aadmi se pyaar karta hoon” as “Saathi hoon saathi se pyaar kata hoon” 🙂 .
So corrections are in order. The movie is “Saathi” (1968) which was directed by C V Sridhar and it had Rajendra Kumar in it.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad. This movie saw the two of them reunited after 22 years. Their last movie together was “Shahjahaan” (1946) which also happened to be Majrooh Sultanpuri’s debut as a lyricist in Hindi movies.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
jo chalaa gayaa usse bhool jaa
jo chalaa gayaa usse bhool jaa
wo na sun sakega teri sada
jo chalaa gaya usse bhool jaa
usse bhool jaa
usse bhool jaa
ye hayaa to maut ki hai dagar
koi khaak mein koi khaak par
ye hayaa to maut ki hai dagar
koi khaak mein koi khaak par
yahi jaan le wo koyi na thha
wo gubaar thha tera humsafar
usse door leke gayi hawaa
jo chalaa gaya usse bhool jaa
usse bhool jaa
usse bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
koi ilteja
koi bandagi
na kazaa se haath chhuda saki
koi ilteja
koi bandagi
na kazaa se haath chhuda saki
ye aadmi ne bade jatan
magar us ke kaam na aa saki
na koi duaa
na koi dawaa
jo chalaa gaya usse bhool jaa
wo na sun sakega teri sada
jo chala gaya usae bhool jaa
hai mujhe bhi gham kisi yaar ka
ke luta nagar mere pyaar ka
hai mujhe bhi gham kisi yaar ka
ke luta nagar mere pyaar ka
hua darbadar
main to is kadar
na khizaan ka hoon
na bahaar ka
mujhe dekh le
mujhe kya mila
jo chalaa gaya usse bhool jaa
wo na sun sakega teri sada
jo chalaa gaya usse bhool jaa
usse bhool jaa
usse bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa
bhool jaa

Ha ha…well on your way to senility. Make sure you have your wife’s name written down somewhere (and you can remember where it is!).
I remember this song from Saathi well – it was when Rajendra Kumar thinks his wife is dead and goes through a long phase thinking and mourning about her.
The sort-of-comparable song from Aadmi (with Dilip Kumar) is “aaj purani raahon se koi mujhe awaaz na de”. In this, Dilip is presumed dead – but he isn’t.
Both are Naushad compositions. You need to change the tags/names, Atul. 🙂

“Saathi” it is indeed. The rare combination of MUKESH, NAUSHAD and MAJROOH after nearly 2 decades, that’s after the magic of Andaz,

There is a trivia here- The only film in which Rajendra kumar and (his Idol) Dilip kumar acted in one film was in JOGAN-1950.

Atulji,
You almost gave me a nightmare. Just looking at the title and name of the movie of this song, I thought how can I do this? (Send you the wrong info) I checked my sent folder and what a relief! Hoi baat nahin, kabhi kabhi ho jata hai.
Ek mukhda arz karti hoon-
ye kya kiya re Atulbhai,
gaane ke naam, tu ne sabhi
badal daale saare
Mukeshji ka hi gaana hai, Beti-69 film se. us ki dhoon mein gaa sakte ho.

It’s Ok, Atul ji,
Nevertheless, this song contains the pathos, the pantomime, the melodrama, the blue, the grace, and, of course, it’s a combination of Mukesh & Jubeeli kumar, who cares …about small detail…
Enjoy your day with chai & samosa 🙂
Cheers…

Atulji the song is from Saathi (on Rajendra kumar the song was picturised) and it was directed by C.v.Sridhar
