Chaand mera baadalon mein kho gayaa

Posted on: March 12, 2013

This article is written by Shekhar Gupta, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

Very recently (on 11 March 2013), the very first number from Madhubala Pictures’ Pathan (1962), directed by none other than Attaullah Khan, Madhubala’s father, was posted on this Blog with rich additional information on the movie from our resident expert Arunkumar Deshmukh. The write up and the song, So jaa saloney so jaa, a Lata lullaby, can be accessed here on the Blog and Arunji’s comments here.

But the most famous number of this forgotten Premnath-Mumtaz Askari starrer is “Chaand Mera Baadalon Men Kho Gaya” in Talat Mahmood’s dulcet voice – presumably picturized on the hero Premnath. It is penned by Aish Kanwal, one of the five lyricists for this movie, and tuned by Fakir Mohammed and Asar, two of at least five music directors used for this seven-songs movie. The film, it seems, remained incomplete!

Song-Chaand Mera Baadalon Mein Kho Gaya (Pathan)(1962) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Aish Kanwal, MD-Fakir Mohammad-Asar

Lyrics

chaand mera baadalon mein kho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein kho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein
meri duniya mein andhera ho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein kho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein

ro rahin hain aaj meri hasraten
ro rahin hain aaj meri hasraten
ham to samjhe thhe milengin raahten
kya kahen
haaye kya socha thta aur kya ho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein…
meri duniya mein andera ho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein kho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein

lut chuki hai aaj meri har khushi
lut chuki hai aaj meri har khushi
kaise guzregi ye tanha zindagi
aye bebasi
kya karoon mera muqaddar so gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein…
meri duniya mien andera ho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein kho gaya
chaand mera baadalon mein

Very very touching song, extremly suitable TUNE,perfect orchestra used by comparetivelly unknown music director,as he was music dir.of class.
Talat saab is as usual on his best.It will remain always surprise for me that why so much MUSIC directors were taken for this UNRELEASED movie.
