“Hamraahi” (1963) was a Pradsd Production movie. It was directed by T Prakash Rao. The movie had Rajendra Kumar, Jamuna, Dhumal, Lalita Pawar, Mehmood, Shashikala, Shobha Khote, Indira, N. Hussain, Rajendranath, O. P. Ralhan, Heera Sawant etc in it.
Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh and final song from the movie. It is the movie opening song as well as a car song. The picturisation shows Rajendra Kumar driving a convertible car somewhere in Europe and singing this teasing song there. Such teasing falls on deaf ears as far as Western girls are concerned, of course. 🙂 To make our roadside Romeo feel comfortable, some Desi looking girls too are shown in the picturisation as well. 🙂
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
While listening to the song, the music sounds familiar. and then it strikes one that the tune is similar to the “Aisa mauqa phir kahaan milega” from “An Evening of Paris”. This song came before “An Evening in Paris”, of course. The tune of this song is inspired from some western tune, taht if for sure.
With this song, “Hamraahi” (1963) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
