“Naukri” (1954) was produced and directed by Bimal Roy. The movie had Kishore Kumar, Sheila Ramani, Krishnakant, Moni Chatterji, Kanhaiyalal, Noor, Achla Sachdev, Bikram Kapoor, Samson, Prem Dhawan, Shailendra, Colin Pal, Iftekhar, Jagdeep, Mehmood, Sailen Bose etc in it.
I was under the impression that this movie has around six or seven songs at least in it. When I checked up, I realised that this movie has only five songs in it and four of them have been discussed in the past.
Here is the fifth and final song from the movie. And this also happens to be the least known song from the movie.
This song is sung by Lata and it is lip synced by Sheila Ramani. the picturisation shows Kishore Kumar, who is in love with Sheila Ramani, leaving by train to Bombay in search of “naukri”. The picturisation shows Kishore Kumar travelling by train while this song gets played. That way this song is a “rail” song with a difference in the sense that the song gets played while Kishore Kumar is shpown travelling by a train throughout the duration of the song. The lady is bidding “bon voyage” to her beloved remotely through this song which also happens to be a separation song. I must say that I have not come across a picturisation like this in Hindi movies and I was impressed at the original thinking of the makers of this movie.
Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
With this song, “Naukri” (1954) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
Song-O mann re na gham kariye (Naukri)(1954) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Salil Chaudhary
Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
o mann re
na gham kariye
aansoo banenge sitaare
judaai mein dil ke sahaare
o mann re
na gham kariye
aansoo banenge sitare
judaai mein dil ke sahaare
bichhadke bhi humse
jahaan bhi rahe wo
rahenge hamare
o mann re
na gham kariye
aansoo banenge sitaare
judai mein dil ke sahaare
o o
jidhar se wo jaaye
aakash pairon mein
kaliyaan bichha de
jahaan raat ho koi
chupke se raahon pe deepak jaala de
jo raah bhoole to manzil unko pukaare
o o
mann re
na gham kariye
aansoo banenge sitaare
judai mein dil ke sahaare
ghira hai andhera to
jagmag sunehla savera bhi hoga
behkte chaman mein
mehkti bahaaro ka savera bhi hoga
ghira hai andhera to
jagmag sunehla savera bhi hoga
behkte chaman mein
mehekti bahaaron ka savera bhi hoga
jo lauti hai saanse to
lautenge din bhi hamare
jo lauti hai saanse to
lautenge din bhi hamare
o o
mann re na gham kariye
aansoo banenge sitare
judaai mein dil ke sahaare
