These days I am trying to post all the songs of movies that have only a few songs left. The leftover songs are sometimes not very easy to locate. In some cases they may not even be available.
I was seeking to post the balance two songs from Bhakt Surdas (1942). It turns out that one of these songs is a lost song of K L Saigal, viz. “Manwa Krishna naam rate jaa” and another is a Khusheed song namely “Naina re dekhen unke nain”. Seeing that K L Saigal song is a lost song as of now, this movie cannot join the ranks of movies with all its songs covered. When I searched for the Khursheed song, even that song turned out to be elusive. This song may or may not be a lost song, but this song does not appear to be available on YT. Searching on google and YT throws up another song with the same title.
This song with the same title “naina re dekhen unke nain” is from a movie called “Maharani Padmini” (1964). This song is sung by Suman Kalyanpur. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sardar Malik.
The similarity of lyrics from the lost song of “Bhakt Surdas” (1942) may not be a pure coincidence because D N Madhok was the lyricist for Bhakt Surdas as well.
I am unable to identify the actress lip syncing this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
