Shabnam (1949) is another film nearing completion in the blog. Three songs are remaining, two are solos by Shamshad Begum and one by Lalita Deolkar. There are total Ten songs out of which seven are already posted.
The song presented here is ‘qadar meri na jaane ‘, instantly recognizable song, though I was not aware of the details of the song, even that it is composed by S. D. Burman. Qamar Jalaalabadi is the lyricist. This song composed by S. D. Burman is a Shamshad Begum solo, from the movie Shabnam (1949). It is a first part of a twin song, second part of the song is different mood song sung by Shamshad Begum with chorus, which is posted here.
This song is filmed as a dance song, where Cuckoo is dancing in the Palace , as part of wedding celebration. Kamini Kaushal is the bride, and Jeewan is instrumental in cutting short the song ‘qadar meri na Jaane’ and Cuckoo changes tack and begins the second song ‘dekho aayi pehlic muhobbat ki raat’.
