I know Geeta Dutt through some famous songs of hers in the 50’s which were played on radio and being a fan of S. D. Burman songs, it seems she was here there and everywhere especially in early 50’s. Her connection to Guru Dutt and her troubled life and times, with him and untimely death of both makes them the most written about couple of their era. Even in all these, genuine artistic talent of both is the dominant factor in their image. A strong spiritual or religious guidance could have gone some way in giving both of them the will power to face the issues in life, and motivation to tackle them. The tinsel town is such a place that it is very easy to lose touch with realities and drown in depression and sorrows, which are magnified to impossible levels due to the habits of intoxication. Genuine friends are few and most of the circle are there only forthe good times.
Since last two days my online time is filled by ‘Geeta Dutt’, her songs and online ariticles about her like this and this . I had earlier earmarked some solos, but after reading so much about her, I decided to post one solo by Geeta Dutt composed by S. D. Burman. And the fact that it be written by Majrooh Sultanpuri is an added bonus. I have plenty of song to choose from, even if I stick to this combination.
So here is the song from film ‘Sitaaron se Aage’ which is a stage dance song picturized on Vijayanti Mala. Vijayanti Mala is one of those graceful actors from South India, who like Hema Malini and Waheeda Rehman could never look sleazy or indecent, no matter what they wore and did on screen. For all their beauty, talent and ambition, they drew a line as to what level they would stoop to achieve success and popularity.
So here is the Geeta Dutt solo which is influenced by European style of dance music.

Lyrics
yeah ho
he he
ho ho
dil le gayaa aa aa
gham de gayaa aa aa
ek tujh sa sanam
tere sar ki qasam
zaalim bilkul teri tarah
dil le gayaa aa
gham de gayaa aa
ek tujh sa sanam
tere sar ki qasam
zaalim bilkul teri tarah
teri tarah
haaye
teri tarah
hey hey
hey hoy
hoy hey
o gore mukhde pe
kaala kaala till
lipat gayaa jaise
jal ke mere dil
o gore mukhde pe
kaala kaala till
lipat gayaa jaise
jal ke mere dil
o mukh se na boley
phir bhi kahe mil
mukh se na boley
phir bhi kahe mil
haaye
bilkul teri tarah
dil le gayaa aa
gham de gayaa aa
ek tujh sa sanam
tere sar ki qasam
zaalim bilkul teri tarah
teri tarah
haaye
teri tarah
ae he he he
ha ha ha
ae he he he
aa ha ha ha
mujhe to hansi aave
royaa nahin jaaye
lagaa ke gayaa aisi
gudgudi si haaye
mujhe to hansi aave
royaa nahin jaaye
lagaa ke gayaa aisi
gudgudi si haaye
sitamgar jaise
dil ko chhooye jaaye
sitamgar jaise
dil ko chhooye jaaye
haaye
bilkul teri tarah
dil le gayaa aa
gham de gayaa aa
ek tujh sa sanam
tere sar ki qasam
zaalim bilkul teri tarah
teri tarah
haaye
teri tarah
