“Burma Road” (1962) was a “Burma Road” (1962) was a Films Fountain Production. It was directed by Tara Harish. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Ajit, Kumkum, Mohan Choti, Vijaya Choudhury, Sheikh Mukhtar, Jeevankala etc in it.
The movie had six songs in it. Five of these songs have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth and final song from the movie.
This song is picturised as a typical club/ bar dance song where the hero as well as villainous characters assemble and they are treated to a song and dance performance by a female typically lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle or Geeta Dutt’s voice. This song is sung by Lata. I am not familiar with the lady despite watchin her in several picturisations. I guess from the cast that she must be Vijaya Chaudhary. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
Ashok Kumar, Mohan Choti etc are also visible in the picturisation.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
with this song, “Burma Road” (1962) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhe piya
aage dildaar ikhtiyaar hai tumhen
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhe piya
aage dildaar ikhtiyaar hai tumhe
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhen piya
palkon ki chilman sanam uthaaye
jaan hatheli pe liye ham aaye
palkon ki chilman sanam uthaaye
jaan hatheli pe liye ham aaye
phir bhi kisi ka intezaar hai tumhen
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhe piya
aage dildaar ikhtiyaar hai tumhe
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhe piya
karne ko karte hain sabhi ishaare
honge magar kuchh hamin tumhaare
karne ko karte hain sabhi ishaare
honge magar kuchh hamin tumhaare
maana ke nahin aitbaar hai tumhen
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhe piya
aage dildaar ikhtiyaar hai tumhen
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhen piya
baat suno matt badal ke chitwan
dil ke yahaan har taraf hain dushman
baat suno matt badal ke chitwan
dil ke yahaan har taraf hain dushman
dekho hamaari yeh pukaar hai tumhen
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhe piya
aage dildaar ikhtiyaar hai tumhen
hamne to diya
ye dil tumhen piya

This film had a strange ‘mis-matched’ pair of Ashok Kumar & Vijaya Chowdhry in romantic lead!
Ajit was not in the movie, as mentioned. Moti Sagar was paired with Kumkum.
