Ah, the fiftieth song in this series. We are continuing to track the progress of Mukesh as a singer across the years of his career. And today we reach the 50th post in this journey starting from 1941.
And the number got me thinking – we need something special for the occasion.
And so here it is, something very special and in a way very unique. I did scan the Mukesh Geet Kosh to confirm my conjecture. This song being posted here today, is possibly the only duet that Mukesh has sung with GM Durrani. I could locate another song in which these two singers sing together. But that song is actually not a duet, but a triplet with Rafi Sb also joining in. Hence essentially, this song turns out to be the only duet song between these two stalwart singers.
The film is ‘Hanste Aansoo’ from 1950. It is an Akaash Chitra productions, directed by KB Lal. Music is by Ghulam Mohammed and the lyrics are by Shewan Rizvi. The cast of actors is Madhubala, Moti Lal, Gope, Manorama, Mirza Musharraf, Jankidas, Kapil. I wonder which two of these would have sung this song onscreen. I request friends and readers on the blog to please add more information about this song.
A unique song and such a very fun song. Two friends having an exchange. One of them wants to fix the place of his bed in a specific spot. And the other cautions about some special visitors. I am speculating there is a history behind this exchange (in the film). My feeling is that this song is filmed on Motilal and Gope. I could be wrong, but seems a possible option.
So, a very unique song and a very fun song. To celebrate the 50th post of the ‘Voice of Mukesh’ series. Listen and enjoy.

Many Many Thanks for half a century of extremely rare gems including this treat of Mukesh-GMD combo.
I am still searching for any song of Mukesh with Jagjit Kaur. Any idea please ?
