“Duniya” (1949) was produced by Fazli brothers and directed by S F Hussain. The movie had Karan Dewan, Suraiya, Yakub, Anwari, Bhudo Advani, Shakila, Zubeida, Jankidas etc in it.
Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from the movie. It is sung by Suraiyya. There were four lyricists in this movie, viz. Aarzoo Lakhnavi, S.H. Bihari, Asad Bhopali and Saraswati Kumar Deepak but the lyricist of this song is not known. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the lyricist of this song.
C Ramchandra is the music director.
Only the audio of this song is available, but it is clear that the song was picturised on Suraiyya herself.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
Song-Armaan lute dil toot gaya (Duniya)(1949) Singer-Suraiyya, MD-C Ramchandra
Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
armaan lute dil toot gaya
armaan lute dil toot gaya
dukh dard ke saathi chhoot gaye
armaan lute dil toot gaya
ae maut sahaara de aakar
ab saare sahare chhut gaye
armaan lute dil toot gaya
o o
afsos ke mere dil ki kali
o o
afsos ke mere dil ki kali
khilne hi se pehle sookh gayi
kuchh tej hawa ke jhonke se
jo saari bahaaren loot gaye
armaan lute dil toot gaya
jab dil ne kisi ko pyaar kiya
duniya ne kuchh aisa waar kiya
aa aa
jab dil ne kisi ko pyaar kiya
duniya ne kuchh aisa waar kiya
mujh jaise bahut se aayine
kuchh tod diye kuchh toot gaye
armaan lute dil toot gaya
o o
jeene ki zara bhi aas nahin
o o
jeene ki zara bhi aas nahin
ab kuchh bhi hamaare paas nahin
jo dil se lagaa kar rakhe thhe
wo chhaale bhi ab phoot gaye
armaan lute dil toot gaya
armaan lute dil toot gaya
dukh dard ke saathi chhoot gaye
armaan lute dil toot gaya

Annasaheb, the master composer… listen to the accompanying violines and admire the connecting interludes…Suraiyya’s voice like honey..tuned in melody…
