“Durgesh Nandini” (1956) was inspired and adopted from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s famous novel of the same name. The movie was produced by S Mukherji and directed by B Mitra. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai, Nigar Sultana, Nalini Jaywant, Jeevan, Ajit, I.S.Johar, D.K.Sapru, Murad, Bipin Gupta, Jankidas, Nayampalli, Sheila Vaz, Majnu etc in it.
Here is a song from “Durgesh Nandini” (1956). It is sung by Lata and chorus. The song is picturised as a boat song. The song shows Bina Rai and her sahelis enjoying a boat ride while Pradeep Kumar astride a horse watches from the shore. The song in fact begins withh Pradeep Kumar throwing a flower garland who lands precisely at the intended target, viz at the neck of Bina Rai. The lady lip syncing the song in Lata’s voice is one of the sahelis of Bina Rai. She could be Nigar Sultana. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar.

Yes indeed Atulji. She is Nigar Sultana.. who was once married to K. Asif the director of Mughal-e-Azam.
