“Chandidas”(1934) was directed by Nitin Bose for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had K L Saigal, Uma Shashi, M Nawab, M Anwari, I H Siddiqui, Pahadi Sanyal, Parbati Devi, Anwari Bai etc in it.
Eight songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the ninth and final song from the movie. This rare song is sung by Uma Shashi and Pahadi Sanyal. Agha Hashr Kashmiri is the lyricist. Music is composed by R C Boral.
Only the audio of this song is available but it is clear that the song was picturised on Uma Sahshi and Pahadi Sanyal themselves.
With this song, “Chandidas”(1934) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog. Now, this movie becomes the oldest movie to have all its songs covered in the blog, bettering the record of “Devdas”(1935).

Atul ji,
It is an important record, and a significant milestone for this blog. The films from 1930s are rarities, and to be able to get all songs posted is an important accomplishment.
Gramophone records were not published for most films in that era, and even within films for which they were published, all songs were not released on records. Hence the only way to get all songs is if the film itself is available. Some are, and for them it is feasible to obtain all songs.
After having done this classic icon from 1934, the next potential similar milestones should be ‘Karma’ and ‘Laal e Yaman’ from 1933.
In a conversation with Girdhari Lal ji of Jodhpur, he once shared with me that around 1400 to 1500 songs of the 1930s should be available. The total of talkie films in 1930s is around 930, and the total number of songs identified so far is approx. 9800+. Being able to post even 10 to 15 % of this number will be a most wonderful accomplishment. We are already at 265 songs published for films from 1930s.
And I am sure we will get there. 🙂
