“Geet” (1944) was produced by A R Kardar and directed by S U Sunny. The movie had Chanda, Shahu Modak, Nirmala, Amir Ali, Shakir Ali, A Shah, Zahid Ali etc in it.
Two songs from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is the third song from this movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Nirmala. Music is composed by Naushad. This movie had two lyricists, namely D N Madhok and Mahar Ul Qadri. Lyricists are known only for four out of eleven songs of the movie (as per HFGK). The lyricist of this song is not known.
Since Nirmala acted in this movie, it is easy to guess that this song was picturised on herself.
The audio quality is not upto the mark. Noting down the lyrics of this song was quite a challenge. Though I have managed to decipher most words, I am not fully satisfied with my effort and there are errors/ miears ssing words in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help correct the errors/ fill in the gaps as applicable.
Song-Chaand khila taare muskaaye (Geet)(1944) Singer-Nirmala Devi, MD-Naushad
Lyrics
chaand khila aa aa
taare muskaaye
chaand khila aa
taare muskaaye
meri ee hansi udaaye
meri ee hansi udaaye
aison se kyun
preet lagaayi ee
jaa ke jo nahin aaye ae
jo nahin aaye
chaand khila aa aa
taare muskaaye
aise(?) to neela gagan saajanwa
o o o
jaa main (?) o re chanda
dooje neel nain gori ke
o o o
?? bhar bhar aaye
chaand khila aa aa
taare muskaaye
chaand khila
taare muskaaye
peepal ke patton ko ??
aapas mein kuchh bolen
roop jawaani ke more saajan
sapne(?) beete jaayen
chaand khila aa aa
taare muskaaye
chaand khila aa
taare muskaaye
