“Son of India”(1962) was produced and directed by Mehboob Khan. It followed in the wakes of his earlier movie namely “Mother India”(1957).

This movie had Kamaljeet, Kumkum, Sajid Khan, Jayant, Kumar, Kanhaiya Lal, Simi Garewal, Tun Tun, Bakhtawar Singh, Durga Khote Mukri, Lilian, Ruby Mayers, Murad etc in it.

“Son of India”(1957), like “Mother India”(1962) was a musical blockbuster and some of its songs went on to become iconic songs.

As many as eight songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the ninth and final song from “Son of India”(1962). This song is sung by Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.

This melancholic song is lip synced by Kumkum. Kamaljeet and Simi Garewal are also visible in the picturisation of this song.

With this song, “Son of India”(1962) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song- Chal diye de ke gham (Son of India)(1962) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Naushad

Lyrics

chal diye deke gham
ye na socha ke hum
is jahaan mein akele
kidhar jaayenge
aisi manzil pe chhoda hai tumne hamen
ab sahaara na doge to mar jaayenge

bijliyon ka na dar thha
na aandhi ka gham
kho gaye thhe mohabbat ki duniya mein ham
kya khabar thhi ki lut jaayega aashiyaan
kya khabar thhi ke tinke bikhar jaayenge
chal diye deke gham
ye na socha ke hum
is jahaan mein akele kidhar jaayenge

yaad karke tumhen royenge umr bhar
chain aayega dil ko na shaam o sahar
zindagi mein rahegi tumhaari kami
din gujarne ko yoon bhi guzar jaayenge
chal diye deke gham
ye na socha ke hum
is jahaan mein akele kidhar jaayenge
aisi manzil pe chhoda hai tumne hamen
ab sahaara na doge to mar jaayenge
