“Santaan”(1946) was directed by Ram Prakash and B Damaniya for Janak Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Nayampalli, Benjamin, Rehana, Lalita Pawar, David, Girish, Hemawati, Janak, Irshad, Viman Bannerji, Sumati Gupte, Zeb Qureshi, Rajshekhar, Prashant Pandey, S Ranjan etc in it.
This obscure movie had nine songs in it that are as obscure as the movie itself.
Here is the first song from this movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Shamshad Begam. Anjum Pilibhiti is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ramchandra Pal.
Only the audio of this song is available. From the sounds of it, the song appears to be a “Saaqi” song and/or mujra song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Lyrics
Karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
Karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
kiske hawaale
kiske hawaale
kiske hawaale
kiske hawaale
Karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
nahin koi milta jo dil ko sambhaale
haan dil ko sambhaale
nahin koi milta jo dil ko sambhaale
haan dil ko sambhaale
karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
nigaahen meri dhoondhhti hain usiko
nigaahen meri dhoondhhti hain usiko
jo aankhon hi aankhon mein dil ko churaa le
haan dil ko churaa le
karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
jawaani ke din hain
muraadon ki raaten
aen aen aen aen
jawaani ke din hain
muraadon ki raaten
koi aake aise mein armaan nikaale
haan
armaan nikaale
karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
na kar dekh peene se inkaar Anjum
na kar dekh peene se inkaar Anjum
jawaani hai do din ki
pee le pilaa le
haan pee le pilaa le
Karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
kiske hawaale
kiske hawaale
Karoon apne dil ko main kiske hawaale
haan kiske hawaale
