“Mohar”(1959) was directed by Jairaj for Black and White Movies Productions, Bombay. The movie had Shammi Kapoor, Geeta Bali,Bhagwan, Lalita Pawar, Tiwari, Minu Mumtaj etc in it.
Our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia, Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh had shared this fact with us that the movie was withdrawn from cinema halls within one week of its release because of some dispute between its producer and financiers. The movie was never re-released again. Therefore few people have seen this movie.
The seven songs from this movie were released on records and they are available. Five of these songs have been discussed in the blog in the past.
Here is the sixth song from “Mohar”(1959) to appear in the blog. This rare song is sung by Lata. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.
What a delightful song it is. Sadly, we will never know how this song (and also other songs of this movie) was picturised.
One more song from this movie is now left to be discussed. That song, which is the rarest song from the movie, happens to be a hidden gem of a song that I will be saving for some special occasion.
