“Laal Batti”(1957) was directed by Balraj Sahni and Krishn Chopra for Cine Cooperatives Limited, Bombay. this movie had Mala Sinha, Balraj Sahni, Shashikala, Jawahar Kaul, Kamal, Rashid Khan, Sulochana (Ruby Meyers), Baij Sharma, Pal Mahendra, Brahm Bhardwaj, Bishan Khanna etc in it.
The movie had four songs in it. Three songs from the movie have already been discussed in the blog.
Here is the fourth and final song from “Laal Batti”(1957). This song is sung by Nirmal Chaudhary and chorus. I have no idea about him and nothing seems to be available on him online. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on him. This is the second song of Nirmal Chaudhary in the blog. The first song where he made his debut in the blog was another “remonstrating with the “Almighty” song from “Biraaj Bahu”(1953).
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Salil Chaudhary.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
With this song, “Laal Batti”(1957) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

one of the greatest Folk artists of Bengal Nirmalendu Chowdhury (Nirmal Chaudhary) was born in the village of Behali in Sunamganj Sylhet (now) in Bangladesh, on July 27, 1922. He used to listen, folk songs by the boatmen. In 1940 he was associated with Bharatiya Gana Natya Sanga (IPTA). He took part in international cultural programmes making south Asian folk songs heard abroad. Salil Chowdhury had spent his early life in the tea gardens of Sylhet and Assam as his father was a tea garden physician. After1947 Nirmalendu migrated to India where he was a playback singer, actor, and composer. He was awarded Padmabhushan by Indian Government for his contribution to folk music.
