“Chor Baazaar”(1954) was produced and directed by P N Arora for All India Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Sumitra Devi, Shammi Kapoor, Chitra, Kammo, Amar, Wazir Mohammad Khan, Shameem, Ram Avtar, Cuckoo, S M Abbas, Parasram, Munshi Munaqqa, Jagdish Kanwal, Sheetal, Om Prakash etc with Wasti, Randhir and Shashikala as guest artists.
Four songs from the movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from the movie to appear in the blog.
This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sardar Malik.
I am unable to identify the actors visible in the picturisation of this song which shows a lady playing a stringed instument and lip syncing the song while several female dancers dance in the presence of a princess. My guess is that Chitra lip syns the song while Sumitra Devi is the princess. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the actors in the picturisation.
The record of this song contains the name of Shamshad Begam instead of Asha Bhonsle and that is why HFGK too have mentioned this song as sung by Sahmshad Begam and chorus. But in the corrigendum, HFGK has mentioned the fact that the voice is Asha Bhonsle’s rather than Shamshad Begam, notwithstanding what the record label mentions.

I think the identification of Sumitra Devi is correct, I don`t think the lady lip syncing for the song is Chitra(who acted in Noor Mahal,Reporter Raju)
May be she is Sheetal or Shamim(is shamim is actress or actor)???, Remember this is a pure guess work.
Is this,P.N.Arora,the director of the movie is Helen`s First husband ??
