Today (4 october 2016) is a SPECIAL DAY.
Our Blog completes 3000 days on Internet today. It surely is a matter of Pride. In this era of short lived pleasures and shorter lived Blogs, to remain not only active but also to become famous Internationally in 198 countries of the world ( as per WordPress report) , for such a long period is indeed highly creditable. 8 years and 80 days, and still growing by leaps and bounds !
8.5 million visitors from across the continents, about 2000 daily subscribers, an unparalleled bank of 12400+ selected songs. a treasure house of unique and highly trustworthy Cine-Information, a dedicated band of Contributors of articles and lyrics……is an achievement enviable and unmatched in the Internet History of Hindi film and Non film songs. All this is done by just One person – Atul ji. Hats off to his foresight, to his skill of binding people together, to his dedication and to his untiring efforts to keep things moving positively. No wonder, those who come here once get attached for ever !
My Heartiest Congratulations to Atul ji. I wish him very long and successful run of this Blog. May he achieve more milestones to remember.
रहे न रहे हम
तुम बढते चलो
ये कारवान तुम्हारा
तुम चलाते चलो.
It is difficult to talk about the achievements of the Blog, without getting emotional. There are many examples in world history, where just one solitary incident changed the course of a nation, person or a life.
The life of Narendra Nath changed when he met Shri Ramkrishna Paramhans, because he was the only person who told Narendra Nath that he had seen the God ! And Narendra Nath became Swami Vivekanand. Aryabhatt discovered Zero and changed the way the world calculated. Defeated king Porus gave just one smart reply and got back his kingdom with honour from Sikandar. The Parsees just added a spoon of Sugar to the glass of milk and got permission to settle in India. Many such examples can be quoted. I too have one example. The day I stumbled upon this Blog while surfing the Internet on one fateful day in 2011,it changed my life completely.
The Blog helped me to start my second innings of life.I had never imagined in my life that the hobby and habit of noting down film details in diaries during my teens would provide me a full time enjoyable “Career ” in writing about old films and music, in my own old age ! I had just learnt operating Computer from my grand children at the age of 71 years. Starting with occasional comments on posts in the Blog in 2011, I graduated to writing articles on the Blog from 1-10-2012 onwards. Thanks to the encouragement of Atul ji throughout, I continued writing and achieved some level in this field.
This Blog has emphasised one point. Music Unites, Music is Immortal and Music makes you Happy whatever the situation. I have selected a song for today which reiterates this philosophy. Sung by Chitalkar, Francis Vaz and Chorus, for film Jhamela-53, the song says, ” Rota hai dil tera phir bhi tu gaa, duniya mein kisi ka dil na dukha, Gaa Gaa Gaaye ja, Gaa Gaa Gaaye ja. ”
Film Jhamela-53 was produced and directed by Bhagwan ( 1-8-1913 to 4-2-2002 ). This was his second Social film, after the record breaking successful film Albela-51. Though Bhagwan tried to repeat the performance, he was not quite successful and film Jhamela was declared as a semi hit film at the Box-office.
Master Bhagwan was a very close friend of Music Director C.Ramchandra. Bhagwan has described, in one interview, how they met first time. Bhagwan was directing and acting as a hero in the film ‘Bahadur kisan’-1938. Music Director was Mir Saheb. Bhagwan had to sing a song in this film. Mir Saheb used to compose many tunes in the evening, but when he came next day for rehearsals, he would forget all tunes. This happened repeatedly. Bhagwan was frustrated as his film was being delayed for this song. He told Mir Saheb to do something urgently. Mir Saheb said, ‘I will bring my assistant with e tomorrow. That young boy writes ntations as an expert and all tunes will be ready. ‘Next day C.Ramchandra-his assistant- came and the song took place subsequently. From this time they became friends.
When Bhagwan got a Tamil film for Direction , he offered its music to C.Ramchandra as a Music Director. Thus, C. Ramchandra’s debut film as an MD was a Tamil film, ‘Jayakodi’. very soon they both did another Tamil film , ‘Van Mohini’. While Jayakodi was shot in Bombay, for Van Mohini they went to Madras and Kerala. In 1942, Bhagwan got a Hindi film to direct, ‘Sukhi Jivan’. He ensured that C.Ramchandra got this film as its Music Director, when the producer was not ready. The producer Chandra Rao Morey, had promissed one Naidu, assistant of Anil Biswas to give this film as an MD. However Anil Biswas himself intervened when Bhagwan threatened to quit on this issue. Finally the producer was convinced by Anil Biswas and thus “Sukhi Jivan”-42 became C.Ramchandra’s first ever Hindi film as MD. He went on to become a famous composer in coming years.
Film Jhamela-53 was also the cause of a rift between these great friends and they did not talk to each others for next 12 years. In 1965, a common friend, Omprakash patched up the dispute and they remained friends till C.Ramchandra died. I never tire writing about C.Ramchandra or Bhagwan, however ore about them some other time…
Meanwhile, just enjoy this philosophical song from this film..
Song-Rota hai dil tera phir bhi tu gaa (Jhamela)(1953) Singer-C Ramchandra, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-C Ramchandra

arre dil naa dukhaa tu gaa
gaa gaa gaaye jaa

Thank you very much for this heartwarming post Sir !!
I could get it read today after reaching back my base station.
Yes, Raja ji and I had talk on this as “how Music Unites, how it breaks various barriers in the society between human beings, and from my point of view how I get motivated after listening music/HFM songs” and how it makes me Happy in whatever the situation may be”.
Thanks for this lovely song too. I liked it very much 🙂
Thanks for sharing the details on ‘Jhamela-1953’ and Bhagwan and C.Ramchandra ji.
Congratulating Atul ji and all once again …!!!

Thanks, Arunji.
You’ve said it perfectly “Music Unites, Music is Immortal and Music makes you Happy whatever the situation.”
Indeed, during the recent gangout here we talked about this. How music has no borders and how it can uplift you in any situation.
You are 100% right that it is Atul’s dedication that has seen this blog celebrate its 3000th day. Like you say, this is an era of short-term activities. Many blogs have come and gone (aaya blog, gaya blog? :-)). This blog has been active not just for 3000 days but every day of those 3000 days. That’s an unbelievable achievement!
The numbers speak for themselves. The count, the spread of readership around the globle. They are all testimony to where this blog stands today, on the internet.
Maybe when Atul started this blog he didn’t quite think of it this way, but today, for Hindi film music lovers, this is a legacy that should be treasured for generations.
