Today (12 january 2017) is the 99th birth anniversary of C Ramchandra (12 january 1918- 5 january 1982). One of the earlier pioneers of HFM, C Ramchandra composed music in several languages viz Tamil, Marathi, Hindi. During his career, he was known by different names viz C Ramchandra, Chitalkar, Annasahab, Ram Chitalkar, Shyaamoo, R N Chitalkar etc.
In addition to music direction, he was a decent singer as well. He was a singer-Music director all rounder in the sense that he had more than one hundred songs under his belt as a music director and also as a singer. Hemant Kumar was the only other singer-music director all rounder.
C Ramchandra composed some 900 plus songs in around 110 Hindi movies plus NFS. This blog has 441 C Ramchandra compositions from 82 of his movies (including some NFS as well). 24 of these 82 movies have already been YIPPEED.
The blog also has 115 songs of C Ramchandra as a singer.
On this occasion, here is a song from “Asha”(1957). This movie, which has some of the most memorable C Ramchandra compositions had eight songs in it. Seven of these songs have been covered in the blog. The song under discussion is the eighth and final song from this musical blockbuster.
This song is sung by Lata. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is of course composed by C Ramchandra.
This must be the least popular song from the movie (at least for me) inthe sense that I was not aware of this song while most other songs from the movie are extremely well known songs for me as well as others.
No decent quality video of this song seems to be available (thus confirming my view of this song being the least well known song from the movie). The only available video is of poor quality
This song, like most other songs from the movie is picturised on Vyjyanti mala as a stage performance song with other ladies playing supporting roles.
With this song, “Asha”(1957) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya (Aasha)(1957) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-C Ramchandra
Lyrics
chal chal re kanhai chhaliya
chal chal re kanhai chhaliya
main to na doongi na doongi na doongi re
main to na doongi ab tori ye muraliya
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya
baajegi na jamuna ke teer
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
baajegi na jamuna ke teer baansuriya
niklegi ghar se na koi bhi gujariya
bada thha gumaan tujhe murli ke zor pe
chhal tera ab kaise chalega saanwariya
kaise hogi sunwaai chhaliya
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya aa aa
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya aa aa
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya
chhaliya aa aa
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya aa
main to na doongi na doongi na doongi re
main to na doongi ab tori ye muraliya
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya
bansi main roj tujhe door se dikhaaungi
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa
bansi main roj tujhe door se dikhaaungi
aankhon pe bichhaungi
seene se lagaaungi
tujhse bhi pyaari mujhe baans ki ye pori hai
choom choom ise tujhe khoob main jalaungi
de ke preet ki duhaai chhaliya
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya aa aa
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya aa aa
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya
chhaliya aa aa aa
aa aaa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya
chal chal re kanhaai chhaliya aa aa aa

Oh and did anyone recognize the “Kanha” in the song. It is Madam Asha Parekh. It was obvious from the start of the song, the body language was very familiar. it was confirmed when the song reached 0:50 the close-up gave the confirmation. she looked so cute.
