“Agar” (1977) was produced by Mohan Rao and directed by Esmaayeel Shroff. The movie had Amol Palekar, Zarina Wahab, Kader Khan, Vijayendra Ghatge, Tuntun, Jagdeep, Gulshan Bawra, Roodi Berde, Brahm Bhardwaj, Krishan Dhawan, Viju Khote, Manmohan Krishna, Dr Shreeram Laagoo, Keshto Mukherji, Maruti Rao, Master Raju etc in it.
Amol Palekar, Zarina Wahab, Vijayendra Ghatge, Master Raju ! They were there in “Chitchor”(1976) as well. I always recall Master Raju as the kid brother of Zarina Wahab and would be “saala” of Amol Palekar.
In “Agar”(1977), Amol Palekar and Zarina Wahab play a married couple. So they found themselves upgraded from “Chitchor” (1976) from love birds to married couple. Master Raju on the other hand gets “downgraded” from being Zarina Wahab’s brother in “Chitchor” (1976) to becoming her song in “Agar”(1976). 🙂
“Agar”(1977) had three songs in it. Two of these three songs have already been covered in the blog. So discussing the third song from the movie is all it takes for this movie to be YIPPEED. 🙂
Here is this third and final song from “Agar”(1977) to appear in the blog. This song is picturised as a car song on the family of Amol Palekar, Zarina Wahab and Master Raju. Master Raju demands that he wants a sister foor himself. Zarina Wahab tells the kid that his daddy would bring him a toy from abroad. “Foreign toys are “ake, agenuine sister can be had only in India- Master Raju states. 🙂
Zarina Wahab them changes tack and advises master Raju to go and perform “devi maa ki pooja” and that is how he can get his wish granted. 🙂
See, the lengths to which a mom goes to deny her son a sister. 🙂 Lazy mom. A more accomodating mom would have immediately started to sing romantic duets with her husband which is the prescribed way of fulfilling the wishes of her son. 🙂
With this song, “Agar”(1977) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
