“Panna”(1944) was directed by Najam Naqvi for Navyug Chitrapat Limited, Bombay. The movie had Geeta Nizami, Jairaj, David, Raja Paranjpe, Kusum Deshpande etc in it.
The movie was not based on “Panna dai” as many would guess, rather the movie was about Matahari, a Dutch female spy active during the first world war. Geeta Nizami had played the title role.
Being a Hindi movie, the movie had songs in it despite it being a spy movie. There were eight songs in it. seven of these songs were sung in female voice. The record versions of these songs were sung by Rajkumari whereas the picturised version had the voice of Shamshad Begam.
Six songs from “Panna”(1944) have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from the movie to appear in the blog. The picturised version of the song is available where Shamshad Begam had sung the song for Geeta Nizami.
Wali Sahab is the lyricist. Music is composed by Amir Ali, for whom it was his second and final movie as a music director after “Naya Tarana”(1943) for the same makers. This movie remained his second and final movie because he died before the movie could be released.

Atul ji,
Amir Ali had given music to ‘Naya Taraana’ (1943). He was one of 4 music directors for the film ‘Pagli’ (1943).

Yes, I realised this fact and I have now made this correction in the writeup.
Moreover, this song is different from the song “jo hampe guzarti hai sab haal bata denge” which is a duet with different lyrics and was discussed in the blog in 2010.
