Yesterday, 13th August was the birthday of Vijayantimala, as she turns 81.
For this celebration, here is a wonderful song performed by her, from the film ‘Phoolon Ki Sej’ (1964). The film is from the banner of Anjali Pictures of Madras, and is produced by Adi Narayan Rao. The film is directed by Inder Raj Anand. The songs in this film are written by Hasrat Jaipuri, and the music is by Adi Narayan Rao. The screenplay of this film is adapted by Inder Raj Anand, from one of the popular novels of Gulshan Nanda – ‘Andhere Chiraagh’.
The star cast of the film includes Ashok Kumar, Nirupa Roy, Vijayanthimala, Anjali Devi, Manoj Kumar, Lalita Pawar, Kanchanmala, Kanhaiyalal, Mukri, Raju (Child Artiste), Shubha Khote, Mehmood.
The storyline of the film involves a situation wherein the child of the younger brother and his wife (roles played by Manoj Kumar and Vijayantimala), under certain family circumstances, is adopted by the elder brother and his wife (roles played by Ashok Kumar and Nirupa Roy). Although they live together, the younger sister in law is forbidden to call her own child, as her child. As the story progresses, the matters are sorted out. This song is one of the interim situations where the child (role played by Master Raju), calls his real mother as ‘Maa‘ for the first time. The song depicts the happiness and ecstasy expressed by the mother. The song is beautifully performed by Vijayantimala.
The lyrics of this song are provided by Prakash ji. This song used to be a popular one during the radio listening days. Thanks to Prakash ji, for reviving this melodious memory.

Producer and director Adi Narayan Rao is real life husband of Late South Indian actress Anjali devi.I think Anjali pictures(madras)which produced Phoolon ki Sej was named after Anjali Devi)
Anjali devi, apart from south indian movies, acted in hindi movies like Sati Savitri(1964-music:Laxmi Pyare),Suvarna Sundari(1958:music:Adi Narayan RAo)
