“Bombay”(1949) was directed by C R Bajaj for National Artist, Bombay. This “social” movie had Shashikala, Ram Singh, Uday Kumar, Suraiyya Chaudhary, S Nazir, Mirza Musharraf, Ratan Gauraang, Rekha, Pittu, Shanti Madhok, Bhudo Advani, Mukri etc in it.
The movie had thirteen extremely obscure songs in it that were sung by four singers, penned by two lyricists and composed by four music directors.
Here is the first song from “Bombay”(1949) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Sulochana Kadam. C R Bajaj is the lyricist. Music was composed by Chetumal and N Bhattacharya.
The song may be rare, but it is wonderful song to listen to.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
I have not been able to get a word (may be more) right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable.
