“Commander”(1959) was produced by M Usman Nadiadwala and directed by Kedar Kapoor for Mehar movies, Bombay. The movie had Ranjan, Nigar, Kumkum, Rammohan, Helen, Chamanpuri, Manjeet, Ramesh Tiwari, Kailash Kumari, Rana, Saroj, Kripal, Gaurang, Maruti, Tiwari etc in it. Kamal Kapoor had made a guest appearance in the movie.
“Commander”(1959) had eight songs in it. Five songs have been covered in the past.
Here is the sixth song from thge movie to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Sarshar Sailaani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.
Though the movie as well as its songs have been forgotten with time, this song is a nice song to listen to. It grows upon the listener after one listens to it a few times. It seems that this song did not have the opportunity of reaching the ears of listeners during its time. That is why this song ended up being a forgotten song. Neither this song, nor any other song from the movie came anywhere close to the top in Binaca geetmala rankings during 1959, when this movie and its songs were released.
Only audio of the song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of the song.
The fact that the songs of this movie ended up forgotten is confirmed by the fact that two ourt of eight songs of this movie are not even available online. In other words, this song, the sixth song from “Commander”(1959) is likely to remain the last song from this movie to be covered, unless the remaining two songs become available.
