#R.D. Burman’s (27.06.1939-04.01.1994) 85th birth anniversary#

Today 27th June’2024 is the eighty-fifth birth anniversary of the legendary music composer Rahul Dev Burman. He was born on 27th June’1939 and he passed away on 4th January’1994. Today on the occasion of his birth anniversary we pay our tributes to R.D. Burman on this blog by covering a few songs composed by him.
One of the most successful successful collaboration of HFM was one where Rahul Dev Burman composed music for movies directed by Shakti Samanta where lead actor was Rajesh Khanna and lyricist was Anand Bakshi.
This collaboration has given some of the most memorable, timeless classic songs in movies viz ‘Kati Patang-1970’, ‘Amar Prem-1971’, ‘Ajnabee-1974’, ‘Mehbooba-1976’ etc. All the songs from these movies have already been covered on the blog. However, we still have two movies i.e. ‘Aawaaz-1984’ and ‘Alag Alag-1985’ where some songs are yet to be posted. Today is an appropriate occasion to cover a song created by this collaboration. posted, I am presenting a song from 1984 movie ‘Aawaaz’. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar. Rajesh Khanna lip syncs this song and he is singing it for Jayaprada.
“Aawaaz-1984” a movie of ‘social genre’ was directed by Shakti Samanta for his home productions ‘Shakti Films’. It had Rajesh Khanna, Jayaprada, Rakesh Roshan, Suresh Oberoi, Supriya Pathak, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, Monty, Amrish Puri, Sudhir, Mac Mohan, Iftekhar, Baby Shabana, Leena Das, Amal Sen, Major Anand, Amarnath, Sunil Dhawan, Gurwinder, Vibhakar, Mahesh Rajvachan, Nagar, Krishnakant, Ajay Agrawal, Azmat, Bahadur Singh, Rama, Manik Irani, Raj Rani, Bina and others. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 27.10.1984.
“Aawaaz” has six songs including one multiple version song. Anand Bakshi wrote all the songs of this movie and music was composed by Rahul Dev Burman.
