#Singer Mohd Rafi’s Remembrance Day 31st July’2024#
Today 31st July we remember the ‘divine voice’ of Hindi Film Music late Shri Mohd Rafi Sahab on his Remembrance Day and pay our tributes to him on this blog. Mohd Rafi was born on 24th December 1924 and he passed away on 31st July 1980 leaving millions of his fans in state of shock and mourning.
Forty-four years have passed since he left this world. But, for the music lovers, not a single day is passed without listening to his songs.
On the occasion of Mohd Rafi’s ‘Remembrance Day’ today, we pay our tributes to him on this blog by listening to songs sung by him. From my side I will be presenting a few songs sung by him today.
The first song I am presenting today is from the movie ‘Sant Raghu’ (1957). This song was lying ready for many years. When I browsed the blog and came across this movie title I remembered that I had shared a song from this movie, but I was under the impression that it was already posted. When I checked my excel sheet of ‘songs pending to be posted’ this was not there. However, when I checked my ‘sent folder’ in the mailbox I got the mail wherein I had sent this song’s lyrics, and this was a different song which was yet to be posted.
‘Sant Raghu’ was directed by Chandrakant for Kanak Productions, Bombay. MK Kapadia was the producer of this movie. The cast of the film included Nirupa Roy, Anant Kumar, Ulhas, Bipin Gupta, Lalita Pawar, SN Tripathi, Manorama, Babu Raje, Tuntun, Mouju, Radheshyam, Bhagwan Sinha, RS Dubey, Champak Lala, Sheela Vaz, Rajkumar, Amrit and others.
‘Sant Raghu’ has eight songs written by Bharat Vyas. Music for this movie was composed by Avinash Vyas.
Lata Mangeshkar, Geeta Dutt, Mohd Rafi, Sulochana Vyas, Manna Dey and Asha Bhonsle had given their voices to the songs in this movie.

From the above information one can notice that though Asha Bhonsle’s name is mentioned in the list of singers for this movie, her name doesn’t appear against any individual songs of this movie. Also audio for two songs of this movie seems to be unavailable as of now.
The lyrics of the song under discussion might remind one of the lyrics of Kavi Pradeep’s song “Hamne Jag Ki Ajab Tasveer Dekhi” (from film ‘Shankar Seeta Anusuya’ – 1965) or the song “Tumko To Karodon Saal Huye Batlaao Gagan Gambheer” (from film ‘Sambandh’ – 1969).
Only the audio of this song is available. As mentioned above this song is sung by Mohd Rafi. Lyrics are by Bharat Vyas and music is composed by Avinash Vyas.
