(Kishore Kumar’s 38th ‘Remembrance Day’ 13th October’2024)
Today 13th October’2024 is the 38th Remembrance Day of the legendary singer Kishore Kumar. He was born on 4th August’1929 at Khandwa (now in Madhya Pradesh) and he passed away at the age of fifty-eight only on 13th Octorber’1987 at Bombay (now Mumbai).
On this occasion, as a tribute to him, I will be presenting a few songs (if possible) sung by him. For today’s presentation I will be presenting some lesser-heard or never heard songs of Kishore Kumar from some un-released or obscure movies. However we will start the day with a song from a released film from the year 1952.
We are all aware Kishore Kumar started his singing career with the 1948 movie ‘Ziddi’ where he had given playback for actor Dev Anand. This was the song ‘marne ki duaayein kyun maangoon’. Kishore Kumar’s peak-time came in the end-of-sixties, and the decade of seventies was when Kishore Kumar’s voice was heard everywhere. There were his songs for many of the established actors and for the new-comers in the industry then. And of course he was well-known as the voice of Dev Anand and voice of the Superstar-Rajesh Khanna. As per an estimate and as mentioned on the statistics on this blog Kishore Kumar has sung around 2700 songs. So far, we have covered 1368 songs on this blog out of the 2709 songs sung by Kishore Kumar.
To start today’s journey of Kishore Kumar songs, I have once again selected a song from the movie ‘Najariyaa-1952’ as I did it earlier on his birth anniversary this year on 4th August’2024.
The movie “Najariyaa-1952” was directed by Murtaza Changezi for ‘M & T Films, Bombay’. It was produced by Sarfaraz. The cast of this movie had Geeta Bali, Sajjan, Beghampara, David, Mumtaz Ali, Radhakishan, Madan Puri, Haroon, Mangala, Heera Sawant, Bimla, Mohna, Gulnar, Basu, Balam, C.L. Shah, Munshi Khanjar, Afghan Sandow, Agha Jaan, Agha Ahmed, Nazeer Kashmiri, S.N. Ghosh, Vighnesh, Ramesh, Baby Rehana, Baby Ratan and others. “Najariyaa” has ten songs penned by P.L. Santoshi and music for this movie was composed by Bhola Shreshtha. The singers list for this movie included Kishore Kumar, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhonsle.
The voice of Kishore Kumar was used for the actor Sajjan in this movie, as mentioned by Shri Arunkumar jee in his posts. Kishore Kumar had two solos and two duet songs in this movie. Two solo songs and one duet song of Kishore Kumar from this movie has already been posted on the blog. Today’s song is the fifth song from this movie to appear here and this is the second duet song of Kishore Kumar from this movie. In this duet song we have the voices of Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle.
