“Naya Raasta”(1953) was based on Gujarati stage drama “Sarvoday” which was staged by Shri Desi Natak Samaj and it was extremely popular. Inspired by its popularity, it was made into a movie called “Naya Raasta”(1953) by producer and director Jayant Desai for Jayant Desai Films, Bombay. The movie had Nirupa Roy, Manhar Desai, Agha, Bipin Gupta, Umakant, Suryakumar etc in it.
Unlike the drama, the movie failed miserably at the box office.
“Naya Raasta”(1953) had eight songs in it. Five songs from this movie have been covered in the blog.
Here is the sixth song from “Naya Raasta”(1953) to appear in the blog. This song is an inspirational song, which is sung by Laxmi Roy, Trilok Kapoor (singer) and chorus. Saraswati Kumar Deepak is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.
Laxmi Roy was the sister of Geeta Dutt. Her voice in this song sounds eerily similar to Geeta Dutt. Trilok Kapoor (singer) whose voice is heard in this song was different from Trilok Kapoor the actor.
The movie was a flop and that affected the popularity of its songs. This song, which I heard for the first time just now, sounds like a song that deserved to be better known among music lovers.
