#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
—————————————————————————
(75 Years of ‘Republic Of India’ #Desh Kee Mittee Kee Khushboo#)
Today’s song is from an unreleased film ‘Hamaari Kahaanee-1973’. This movie was directed by B.V. Algikar for ‘Navprakash Chitra, Bombay’. It had Master Shripad, Baby Ragini, Master Vinayak, Master Kiran, Sulochana, Abhi Bhattacharya, Dhoomal and others. Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980) lists three songs for this movie, leaving space for possibility of more songs in this movie. Two songs are written by Asad Bhopali, and one song is written by Jaan Nisar Akhtar. Music for this movie is composed by C. Arjun. (More than a year back I had come across another song from this movie which I had noted for some other occasion.) The singers for this movie are Usha Mangeshar, Manna Dey and Mohd Rafi. Today I present a song sung by Mohd Rafi which is written by Jaan Nisar Akhtar.
This song is a patriotic song which talks about the unity in diversity of our country. This is a nice song in the voice of Mohd Rafi with some powerful verses by Jaan Nisar Akhtar.
This year 26th January 2025 we are celebrating our seventy-sixth Republic Day. It is milestone celebration as we are completing seventy-five years of the India being a Republic after adopting our constitution on this date 75 years ago.
The main function of this day will be, as usual, in New Delhi the capital of our country. There will be the parade of army contingents and there will be 15 bands participating this year with 31 tableaux expected to take part in the parade. Around 10000 special guests are invited for this parade on Kartavya Path. The chief guest for this year’s Republic Day celebrations will be the President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. The theme for this year’s Republic Day celebration is ‘Swarnim Bhaarat: Viraasat aur Vikaas’ (Golden India: Heritage and Progress). For the first time there will be around 5000 folk and tribal artists who will perform on the occasion.
On this occasion of India completing Seventy-Five years of being a Republic, we are paying our tributes to the martyrs, patriots, and others who helped make it possible. We on the blog are discussing patriotic songs or songs about our nation’s freedom struggle, freedom and the contribution of our national heroes and heroines who laid down their lives for the freedom of this country in many ways.
Hindi movies and regional movies from the Hindi Belt have produced many such songs.
Some of these songs became very popular and even iconic songs, but some songs have remained lesser heard and forgotten. The song under discussion is one such lesser-known and rarely heard patriotic song.
Let us listen to this song now…
