#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

Once again we wish all here a very Happy Republic Day. Long live the Indian Republic. Our country has completed seventy-five years as a Republic. The first Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 1950 when the Indian Constitution was adopted for the governance of this country. Today we celebrate the 76th Republic Day of India.
Our country fought a long drawn out battle lasting decades to free ourselves from the British Rule. We got our Independence on 15th August 1947. During the freedom struggle and after getting Independence we continue to write and sing the glory of this land, our rich cultural heritage, traditions and about our national heroes and heroines who fought for the freedom of the country and sacrificed their lives for this country.
Over the years there have been many films before and after Independence which present the stories based on this. And there have been many great songs, great patriotic songs that we have listened to. In the recent years too there have been many such movies which falls under the category of Patriotic movies or which have the stories of biopics of great sons and daughters of this soil.
Our Hindi films have created many songs based on patriotic themes and our love for this country. Currently we are looking for rare, lesser-heard or till now unknown songs from Hindi films to present here.
In this post we have a song from another unreleased or shelved movie from the seventies. The title of this movie is ‘Pukaar’. This movie was made under the banner of ‘J.K. Film Combine’. Other than this the information available for this movie in Geet Kosh Vol-V is that, it has one song composed by Ejaz-Ashok. The lyricist for this movie is Gauhar Rajapuri. Geet Kosh leaves space for the possibility of more songs in this movie. The singer for this sole song mentioned for this movie is Mahendra Kapoor, the singer who if a familiar voice for such songs. The name of the composer duo is new for us and I could find more information about them. Also there is no information about this film too other than that mentioned above.
So far, on this blog we have four movies titled as ‘Pukaar’ and there were made in the year ‘1939’, ‘1970’, ‘1983’ and ‘2000’. This will be the fifth joining this list.
