Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 19

“Agan Se Agan Bhuja “ by Asha Bhosle, written by Hasrat Jaipuri and composed by Ganesh. This is from the movie “Chalaak” (1973).

Chaalaak”(1973) was directed by T N Sharma and R K Bannerji for Film Dhara, Bombay. This “social” movie had Radha Saluja, Kiran Kumar, Alka, Jayshree T, Brahmchaari, Keshto Mukherji, Jagdeesh Raj, Brahm Bhardwaj, Master Ratan, Uma Dutt, Paresh Nanda, Moolchand, Banjara, Bachan Singh, Elizabeth, Suring=der Khanna, Sheikh, Bhola, Satyarani, Sudakshana Mukherji etc with guest appearances by Maruti, Hercules, Lalita Kumari, and friendly appearances by Ajeet, Gautam Sareen, P Jairaj and Danny Dengzongpa.

The story of this movie has been given in this post.

Four songs out of the five from this movie have already been posted earlier. The last one was in 2019 – a full 6 years ago. So with this song, I get to yippee this movie!!!

This song expresses a yearning for closeness and intimacy, highlighting the character’s vulnerability and desire.

Ganesh’s composition complements the passionate lyrics with a melody that accentuates the song’s romantic and emotional depth. Asha Bhosle’s expressive vocals bring out the nuances of longing and desire embedded in the lyrics. In the film, the song is picturized on actors Jayshree T and Gautam Sareen, capturing the essence of romantic pursuit and emotional vulnerability. The visuals align with the song’s themes, portraying the complexities of love and desire.

Song-Agan re agan bujhaa (Chaalaak)(1973) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Ganesh

Lyrics:

agan se agan bujha
kanwal dil ka khila
arre zaalim gale lag ja
tu aa zara
aa aa zara
agan se agan bujha
kanwal dil ka khila
arre zaalim gale lag ja
tu aa zara
aa aa zara

karna haseenon se bhi pyar
aata naheen kya ho oo
hansna hansana mere yaar
aata naheen kya
baahon mein le le
honthhon ko choo le
aaja aa bhi ja
agan se agan bujha
kanwal dil ka khila
arre zaalim gale lag ja
tu aa zara
aa aa zara

aankhein churaana bhi naadaan achcha nahi hai ho oo
dil ko jalaana bhi naadaan achcha nahi hai
apna bana le
dil mein basaa le
dil se dil mila
agan se agan bujha
kanwal dil ka khila
arre zaalim gale lag ja
tu aa zara
aa aa zara

teree hoon teree meree jaan
leke kaheen chal
ho o o
ye main chalee le yeh toofan leke kaheen chal
tujh pe fida hoon
baad-e-saba hoon
haaye re zaalimaa
agan se agan bujha
kanwal dil ka khila
arre zaalim gale lag ja
tu aa zara
aa aa zara
agan se agan bujha

Ganesh was one of those talented composers of the seventies who could not get the right assignments and hence could not get to the top. Sad that there are several such composers who did well but could not get their dues !
