#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # # Daadaa-1978#
——————————————

If we look at the statistics of the movies released in the decade of seventies i.e., 1971-1980, and the total number of songs, the count as per HFGK is around eight thousand songs from 1327 movies ( including 1243 released movies+ Unreleased movies + movies in other languages of the ‘Hindi Belt’ of India).
Out of these eight thousand plus songs we have so far covered 2586 songs on the blog. That is not even near the half-way mark, and it means that we still have a long way to go to bring all the songs of this decade (1971-980) on the blog.

It would be interesting to know year-wise movies released and movies introduced on the blog, and the movies yet to be introduced on the blog. We are certainly going to have these statistics in the future posts on the blog. Till now we have done this exercise for the years ‘1971’ and ‘1972’.

We might have covered many of the popular songs of this era on the blog and there might also be many ‘surprises’ yet to come on the blog. The remaining songs from such movies i.e., the songs other than the most well-known songs yet to be posted on the blog would also have some ‘surprises’ which we are yet to listen to and enjoy.

For instance, take the case of today’s movie which is ‘Daadaa-1978’. It was one of the successful movies of ‘1979’ (I guess it was released in the theatres in end 1978 or in early 1979. It was passed by Censor Board on 30.11.1978).

Two most well-known songs from this movie which are ‘dil ke tukde tukde karke muskuraa ke chal diye’ and ‘allah karam karna maula tu reham karna’ have been posted on the blog. Ever since, this movie is waiting for its third song to appear on the blog and this wait has become more than ten years long.

Today I am presenting a song from this movie which is a beautiful reminder of the music of the ‘seventies’. I landed on this song via other song from the same movie. When I read the title of this (today’s) song it didn’t ring any bells, but when I listened to the song, I immediately recalled that I had heard this song before. This song was a popular enough song of its days.

I have vague memories of watching this movie with my parents and younger brothers. I didn’t remember this movie completely now except for few of its’ songs. But our favourites then were ‘gaddi jaandi hai chhalaangaa maar di’ and ‘allah karam karna maula tu reham karna’. I remember I didn’t like this song ‘dil ke tukde tukde karke’ then and it was very irritating to hear it on radio or around on loudspeakers. However, this song brought the ‘Filmfare’ award of ‘Best Male Playback Singer to Yesudas and it was on number ten in the annual list of ‘Binaca Geetmala of 1979’.

“Daadaa-1978” was directed by Jugal Kishore for ‘Jugal Productions Combine, Bombay’.
Jugal Kishore was also the producer of this movie.

It had Vinod Mehra, Bindiya Goswami, Shashi Puri, Madhu Malini, Amjad Khan, Indrani Mukherjee, Jayshree T., Jeevan, Seema Deo, Ramesh Deo, Jagdeep, Rajendra Nath, Raza Murad, Satyen Kappu, Vijaya Choudhary, Mohan Choti, Maruti, Mohan Shery, Sheikh, Baby Pallavi, Coka Cola, Ramavatar, Shyam Kumar, Ratan Gaurang, Manmauji and many others.

Story of this movie was written by Dr. Hari Zutshi and screenplay was written by Aryan and Tejnath Zar.
Tejnath Zar also wrote the dialogues for this movie.

Editing of this movie was done by Y.G. Chavan.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.11.1978.

This movie had five songs- all written by five different lyricists viz. Asad Bhopali, Ravindra Jain, Kulwant Jani, Mahendra Dehalvi, Gauhar Kanpuri.
(I think that using the five separate lyricists for five songs surely paid of for this movie as all of them turned out to be good compositions).

Music for this movie was composed by Usha Khanna.

Mohd Rafi, Yesudas, Shailendra Singh, Hemlata, Dilraj Kaur, and Suman Kalyanpur had given their voices to the songs in this movie.

Here is the list of songs of this movie.

SNo Song Title Singer/s Lyricist Posted On
01 Gaddi jaandi ae chhalaangaa maardi Rafi, Shailendra Singh, Dilraj Kaur, Hemlata Ravindra Jain
02 Dil ke tukde tukde kar ke muskuraa ke chal diye Yesudas Kulawant Jani 14.07.2009
03 Hamne maana hampe sajan jobanwa bharpoor hai Suman Kalyanpur Mahendra Dehalvi Being covered today
04 Allah karam karna, maula tu reham karna Suman Kalyanpur Gauhar Kanpuri 16.12.2011
05 Bemurawwat tumhe samjhenge zamaanewaale … parde mein koyi Rafi, Shailendra Singh Asad Bhopali

Today’s song is sung by Suman Kalyanpur and is a ‘mujra’ song highly enjoyable and having a catchy tune. On screen it is Jayshree T. performing on this song and we can see Amjad Khan and Jeevan and others in the picturisation of this song.

(Incidentally I am coming across many Jayshree T. songs nowadays and have shared some of them recently on the blog 😊 )

This movie also brough a Filmfare award to Amjad Khan in the category of ‘Best Supporting actor’.

However, it was Amjad Khan’s performance which was the highlight of this movie with other ‘ingredients’ like the story, presentation of it on screen, catchy music and with screen presence of other actors like Vinod Mehra, Shashi Puri, Bindiya Goswami, Madhu Malini and others making this movie a perfect ‘blend’ of action, romance, friendship, and entertainment to watch on the big screen. And this movie ranked on number fifteen among the highest grossing Hindi movies of ‘1979’ (as per IMDB).

I am not going into the detail of the story of this movie as Atul ji and Sudhir ji has covered a lot about the movie in their write-ups while presenting the songs ‘dil ke tukde tukde karke muskuraa ke chal diye’ and ‘allah karam karna maula tu reham karna’ on the blog.

Let us now enjoy the today’s peppy number which I think is inspired from a ‘Bhojpuri song’. Lyrics for the today’s song are by Mahendra Dehalvi.

The engrossing voice in the today’s song is of Suman Kalyanpur and music is by Usha Khanna.

Enjoy the entertaining music of the ‘seventies’ 😊 which I am sure will take many of us to down memory lane …

5004 Post No. : 16904

Today’s song is from the ‘1970’ movie ‘Suhaana Safar’.

Many of my articles are prompted when my memory gets triggered while listeneing to (or thinking about) songs of movies that I watched long ago.

Today’s post is one such post.

I was travelling to pick up my elder daughter from her new working place which is around 150 kms from Vadodara ( a journey of around two hours and forty-five minutes long). I was travelling to bring her back home for ‘holi’ vacation and her marriage vacation 🙂 (her marriage is scheduled this week). 🙂

I was travelling in the afternoon. When I switched on to ‘vividh bharati’ on 93.9FM’ I got to listen to this program ‘kuchh baatein kuchh geet’. It is a ‘theme’ based program where the audience also share their thoughts related to the theme and request for songs of their choice according to the theme.

During this program I got to listen to this song ‘aha aha aa ye suhaana safar’ (as the theme for that day of 17th March 2022 was ‘suhaana’ or ‘suhawnaapan’ etc.

I liked this song very much. It brought back memories of watching this movie when I must be around seven-eight years old. This movie was screened at the weekly screening of movies at the colony club where we then resided.

Though I do not remember this movie now, but this song is permanently embedded on my mind. I had shared this song as a ‘lyrics contributor’ on the blog.

I must be between two-three years old when this movie ‘Suhaana Safar-1970’ had released. Recently I came across many movies of ‘end-sixties’ or from the years – 1968 to 1971 where songs from some of the movies are part of my nostalgia of those years.

I am sure some songs may be getting embedded on my impressionable mind then where the elders must have carried me to movies they watched or some songs were played frequently on the radio, when I was growing, and thus they become part of my vague memories.

I had earlier attempted to list down the songs which makes me feel nostalgic and those songs which bring back old memories, in this post.

I am thinking to revisit movies in chronological order -from the year of my birth i.e. 1968 to 1983-85 when I become a grown up boy and had completed my 10+2 education. I am sure this will be an interesting ‘journey’. But that is a part of another ‘series’ 🙂 of posts.

Coming back to the today’s post now …

When I reached back to my ‘base station’’ I browsed the blog and noted that this movie ‘Suhaana Safar’ is yet to be ‘Yippeeee’ed’ on the blog. On checking the remaining two songs I find the song under discussion more suitable for today’s presentation as the song is happening on a ‘marriage function’ in the movie.

“Suhaana Safar -1970” was directed by Vijay for ‘Century Films, Bombay’.

It had Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, Om Prakash, Lalita Pawar, David, Manmohan Krishna, Leela Mishra, Bhagwan, K.N. Singh, Tiwari, Sunder, Randhir, Mukri, Keshto Mukherji, Sherry, and others.

This movie had six songs written by Anand Bakshi and composed to music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Five songs from this movie have already been posted on the blog as given below.

SNo Song Title Singer/s Posted On
01 Aha aha ye suhaana safar Mohd Rafi 18.03.2018
02 Haay re paisa… paise ka hai kya yakeen Mohd Rafi 28.03.2022

04 Choodiyaan bazaar se mangwaa de re Asha Bhonsle, Mohd Rafi 08.03.2012
05 Saari khushiyaan hai muhabbat ki … Mohd Rafi 21.06.2009
06 Aha aha ye suhaana safar Suman Kalyanpur 18.03.2018

Today’s song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar. This vigorous dance song is lip synced by Jayshree T. She has given an energetic and enthusiastic performance in this song which is highly enjoyable to watch.

Also seen in the picturisation of the song are Shashi Kapoor and many other male-female artists.

Let us now enjoy today’s song and say ‘Yippeeee’ to this movie ‘Suhaana Safar-1970’ on the blog.

(When I had already noted the lyrics of this song and noting the date of the earlier posts, I noted that this movie was eligible for ‘blog ten-year challenge’ on 08.03.2022. And as usual lyrics of the remaining two songs from this movie were also sent by our dear Prakash ji for that day.)

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2012-2022) – Song No. 32
————————————————————————————–

This date ten years ago (viz 19 March 2012) saw four songs from four different movies getting covered in the blog. Here are the details:-

Blog post number Song Movie (Year) Remarks
5656 Mit nahin sakta kabhi likha huaa taqdeer ka Sansaar (1951) 6 songs covered so far out of 14
5657 Nasheeli hawaa hai samaa hai suhaana Commercial Pilot Officer(1963) 3 songs covered so far out of 6
5658 Wo zindagi to thhi ab tak teri panaahon mein Neelkamal(1968) Movie YIPPEED by now
5659 Pukaarti hai muhabbat kareeb aa jaao Daastaan e Laila Majnu(1974) One song covered so far out of 11

One movie out of four, whose songs were covered on 19 march 2012 has since been YIPPEED. The other three movies are eligible for Blog Ten Year challenge today.

“Daastaan e Laila Majnu”(1974) is one of the eligible movies.

“Daastaan e Laila Majnu”(1974) was produced and directed by R L Desai for Chandra Art, Bombay. The movie had Anaamika, Kanwaljit,Dheeraj Kumar(special appearance), Jayshree.T., Satyajeet, K.N.singh, B.M.Vyas, S.N.Tripathi, Dulari, Mohan Sherry etc in it.

The movie had 11 songs in it. One song has been covered so far and that was ten years ago.

So after a gap of exactly ten years, here is the second song from “Daastaan e Laila Majnu”(1974) to appear in the blog.

The song is sung by Suman Kalyanpur. Jaan Nisaar Akhtar is the lyricist. Iqbal Qureshi is the music director.

The song is picturised on Jayshree T, with Anamika and Dhiraj Kumar also visible as royals. Laila Majnu tale is a medieval tale, that is why Jayshree T dance should not be called a cabarat dance, but that dance and also the music sounds and looks every inch a cabarat dance song to me. 🙂 Hindi movies are in any case not known for attentions to details and accuracy of facts.

Lyrics of the song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

“Trishna”(1978) was produced by G P Sippy and directed by Anil Ganguly for Sippy Films, Bombay. This “social” movie had Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Rakhi, Bindu, Sujit Kumar, Dinesh Hingoo, Preeti Ganguly, Master Raju, Minu Chitnis, Preetam, Vikrant (Romeo), Adi Irani, M Hanif, Bilimoria etc. The movie also had special appearances by Aziz Naazaan, Jayshree T Uma Dhawan, Raza Murad and Dwara Divecha.

This movie was a quickie movie by G P Sippy, after their blockbuster “Sholay”(1975) while they were working on their next blockbuster project “Shaan”(1980).

The movie “Trishna”(1978) was not a movie that would appeal to the movie audiences of those days. And expectedly, the movie sank without a trace. I was one of the few moviegoers who actually watched this movie.

The movie had just three songs, as befits a “different” movie. Two songs from the movie have already been covered. Here are their details:-

Blog Post number Song Date of post Singer (s)
6640 Din ba din wo mere dil se 14 September 2012 Lata
14819 Pam para rum pum 2 January 2019 Kishore Kumar

Here is the third and final song from “Trishna”(1978) to appear in the blog. The song is a qawwaali. It is sung by Aziz Naazaan and chorus. Indeewar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

The song was picturised on Aziz Naazaan and others. Jayshree T and Uma Dhawan are the dancers. Sujeet kumar, Rakhee, Sanjeev Kumar, Bindu,Shashi Kapoor are also seen among the audience.

Lyrics weresent to me by Prakashchandra.

With this song, all the three songs of “Trishna”(1978) are covered in the blog and the movie thus joins the list of movies that have been YIPPEED in the blog.

Welcome all to this post. Today we are going to listen to a ‘party’ song from the movie ‘Yaadgaar-1970’.

‘Yaadgaar-1970’ was directed by S. Ram Sharma for ‘Kunal Chitra, Bombay’. It had Nutan, Manoj Kumar, Pran, Prem Chopra, Kamini Kaushal, Junior Mehmood, Madan Puri, Tiwari, Mohan Choti, Lalita Chatterjee, Asit Sen, Lakshmi Chhaya, Shammi, Man Mohan, Polsan, Jayshree, Kuljeet, Renu, Raj Kishore, Harbans Pape, Kirti Behl, Manohar, Naidu, Birbal, Hansraj, Shrinath, Mohan Shery, Dubey, Sabina, Manohar Gosvai, Kesho Rana, Brahm Bharadwaj, Sobti, Alija, Genius, Darshan M., Ravikant, Chandra, Mohan Chhotu, Narbada Shankar, Ramlal and others.

This movie had six songs written by Indeevar and Verma Malik (three songs each).
(One song ‘ik taaraa boley’ is in two parts and it is considered as two songs).

Here is the list of songs of this movie as given in HFGK Vol- IV (1961-1970),

S.No. Song Title Singer/s Posted On

06 Jis path pe chalaa us path pe mujhe aanchal to bichhaane de… mujhe saath to aane de Lata Mangeshkar 28.11.2011

Music for this film was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

Today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is lip-synced on screen by young Jayshree T. In the movie this song happens at a ‘party’ (held in the name of ‘family gathering’) arranged by Prem Chopra with not so good intentions for Nutan. He tries to misbehave with Nutan.

However, it turns out that his own sister (in the movie) (I am unable to identify this actress) also has to go through the same trauma as Nutan, when actor Raj Kishore misbehaves with her. Of course, this incident takes place after the song and dance performance of Jayshree T is over and almost all members present in the party are already drunk.

So far, five songs (including one multiple version song) from this movie have been posted on the blog.

Today’s song is the sixth and final song of this movie ‘Yaadgaar-1970’ to be posted here on the blog. With this song, ‘Yippeeee’ moment for this movie arrives today.

Let us now listen to today’s song.

Lyrics are by Indeevar, and music is composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

If you search in google for ‘history of post cards in India’ top of the results yields this result;

In July 1879, the Post Office of India introduced a quarter anna postcard that could be posted from one place to another within British India. This was the cheapest form of post provided to the Indian people to date and proved a huge success. … The postcard facility continues to this date in independent India.

***

Regulars on the blog are aware of how some members of this blog are fond of talking about our social institutions or our public transports and communication, like railways and post departments specifically.
Actually, it would not be wrong to say that some members like me are madly in love with the railways and postal departments in our country. And why not, both the railways and postal departments have their presence all over the country and these services also play major roles in nation building and national integration. I have a BIG nostalgia associated with both of these services.

***
I remember in my childhood days I was, (even now I am), very much fascinated with the postal services, their stationery. The overall atmosphere in a ‘post-office’ have always fascinated me.

A ‘post-card’ costing fifteen paise was very much popular and the most preferred one to send letters among families and friends, and others. Due to my interest in books and magazines I was frequently using it for getting various publications.

I used to order books through VPP and sometimes even if I could not buy books, I would ask for the ‘list of publications’ from various publishers. We needed to send only a ‘post card’ and in return there would be an envelope carrying printed list with printed pictures of some of the books. That would give me immense pleasure.

I was also having my library containing story books and magazines for children to read mainly during summer vacations.

The simple ‘post-card’ costing fifteen paise was used for many things like conveying important messages or urgent messages, as it was said that the post-cards were delivered faster than the ‘inland letter’ and ‘envelopes.
My Grand Father staying at Akola (i.e., 25 kms from Paras) was always using post-card to send us letters. And it was the same with most other people.

Years back I had pursued my correspondence studies through IGNOU wherein all the study materials were delivered by post and all communication was through posts only. So, one can guess how close the post services are to my heart. 😊

I do not remember anyone raising any ‘privacy violation issues’ those days for ‘post-cards’. I vividly remember that a ‘postman’ would never read your letters unless requested by those who could not read. They would make it a point to handover the letters to the ‘addressee’ and to no one else.

***

After coming back from Kenya in Dec’2019, I got to visit the post office here in Vadodara many times particularly for dispatch of my daughter’s online shop products and other communications. I noticed how the department has been now given a modernized look and we can also see attractive guidelines and information painted on the walls giving it a ‘super-market’ type look.

But I also noticed someting that has not changed over the years. It is a one iron-box used for storing ‘stamps’ (a box little big than or similar to a metal school box of those days) and the ‘sorting room’ or ‘chamber’ having wooden partition separating it from general office.

Another change that I noticed is in the price of the post card, inland letter and envelope. Now we have to pay fifty paise for a post card.

I have a vague recollection that I have seen post cards of ten paise or five paise as well ! May be when I was a child, I must have seen them some with my ‘stamp-collecting’ friends.

Slowly and gradually After the advent of mobile phones and many modes of faster communication the ‘postal modes’ has Slowly and gradually taken the back-seat.

Recently for the sake of nostalgia I bought one piece each of ‘post card’, inland letter and envelope’.

***
What we discussed above is all good one side of the ‘coin’ (or post-card I should say) including happy memories and nostalgia.

On the other side there is another side. Now people do not find time to write letters as they are ‘busy’ in life. Sometimes it can even create misunderstandings between two close friends, where lack of response from either side can strain their relations.

People close to you or even not so close to you always have expectations. And there are some people who are not at all punctual like others, to return a call or a reply to a letter and reciprocate with same zeal and enthusiasm. It may be inadvertentand not deliberatel, but not responding for whatever reason may affect our relations with others.

As an example, it is my habit even now to call each and every friend that I am in contact with, even if they do not reciprocate with the same enthusiasm (I expect somebody should also given me a call and give me a pleasant surprise ).

I have noticed that nowadays people will send you friend requests, emails, WhatsApp messages or use all kind of social networks. On the other hand they generally avoid face to face conversation or the joy of meeting a person and giving him (or her) a hug (😊). In older days people would jump at the opportunity of meeting each other (I mean jump with joy 😊).

Communicating with our near and dear ones is so cheap and affordable, still there are some who cannot find time to communicate with others.

In older days, such people would be described as ‘arey yaar wo to pandrah paise ka ek post card bhi nahin bhejta hai’ or ‘kam se kam pandrah paise ka ek card hi post kar dete Bhai’, ‘itne dinon se tumhaari koyi khabar hi nahin aayi, pandrah paise ka card bhi nahin kharid sakte the kya, aisi bhi kya kanjusi’😊 (I have still maintained to keep the conversation in sophisticated language … and not using dialects 😊)

After remonstating thus, the long lost friends would readily forgive you and give you benefit of doubt in view of the various reasons given by you for responding. And after a little good natured quarrel everything would be fine among the aggrived and the aggriever.

What about someone who is in love with you and has ‘nyochhawar’ed’ (slang?) oneself on you, she or he will definitely say what the lady in today’s song is saying …

I will not repeat it here instead let us listen to this in today’s song …

Jayshree T is performing this song from the ‘1979’ movie ‘Ahinsaa’. We can see Ranjeet and others in the picturization of this mujra song.

“Ahinsaa-1979” was directed by Chand for ‘Ashwin Arts, Bombay’. It was produced by Shiv Kumar.

Story of this movie was written by Chand and K.B. Pathak and dialogues were written by Jainendra Jain. Editing of this movie was done by B.S. Glaad. It had Sunil Dutt, Rekha, Prem Nath, Ranjeet, Nirupa Roy, Alka, Kamini Kaushal, Rajendra Nath, Jayshree T., Jairaj, Trilok Kapoor, Tun Tun, Kundan, Mohan Shery, Bhagwan, Romeo, Jankidas, Birbal, Raj Kishore, Master Raju, Shiv Kumar, Keshav Rana, Rajan Haksar, Narendra Pathak, Major Anand, Ranveer Raj, Hiralal and others. Om Shivpuri, Dev Kumar, Shakti Kapoor, Shyamlee make a friendly appearance in this movie. Asrani make a special appearance in this movie.

This movie had four songs. Two were written by Rajkavi Tulsi and one each by Ram Bharadwaj and Anjaan.

Asha Bhonsle, Mohd Rafi, Manna Dey, Anand Kumar C., and Badri Prasad (mentioned in HFGK not in the movie titles) had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
Music of this movie was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 12.06.1979.

let us enjoy this rocking(😊) mujra song dedicated to the lovely ‘post-cards’ what they were in the seventies – ‘khat, pandrah paise waalaa’. Just out of curiosity I counted and noted that the word ‘pandrah paise waalaa’ appears ‘sixteen’ times in the song…

With today’s song this movie “Ahinsaa-1979” makes its debut on the blog. (It also serves another purpose of bringing ‘movies with same title on the blog’. We already have “Ahinsaa-1947” on the blog.

I have not watched today’s movie so can’t say much about its storyline but we can get idea of the story of this movie from the following dedication in titles;

‘This movie is dedicated to all those criminals and dacoits who surrendered themselves to the law with the inspiration of Loknayak Shri. Jayaprakash Narayan’

I had come across the today’s song a few months ago when I was looking for ‘Kalyanji-Anandji’ composed songs.
On going through other songs of this movie I find only song sounding familiar to me which is ‘Yaar mera rab ho gaya’ only. I was curious to know about the other songs so I listened to them and found today’s song as an interesting 😊 song.

Let us now listen to today’s song. Lyrics for the today’s song are by Ram Bharadwaj and music is composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

Sahir Ludhianvi & His Music Directors-2 – (one movie collaboration only)
——————————————————————————————-

Welcome all to today’s post. In this series we will have a song from ‘Sahir & his music directors’ for ‘one movie association’ only. We have discussed this ‘one movie collaboration’ in the first article of this series here.

We are taking a ‘pause’ here instead of moving to ‘two movie collaboration’ movies of Sahir & his music directors.

Thus, I will say this article as a ‘pause post’ here in this series.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Bhaai Ho To Aisa-1972’. So far, only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog and it was (the only popular or known song) ‘bol meri gudiya gudde ke sang jaayegi’.
This first song from this movie was posted on 24.01.2009. So, in the next couple of months this would be celebrating its twelve years on the blog. With this song being discussed today, that song would now have company. 😊

The other reason for covering a song from this movie is that I do not remember to have listened to the songs of this movie as frequently as most other songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi that I have listened to frequently and.

I have not watched this movie. But I remember to have heard the song ‘bol meri gudiya gudde ke sang jaayegi’ on radio and loud speakers in my childhood days.

‘Bhai Ho To Aisa-1972’ was directed by Manmohan Desai for ‘A.K. Movies, Bombay’. It was produced by A.K. Nadiadwala. It had Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Shatrughan Sinha, Bipin Gupta, Tiwari, Bela Bose, Viju Khote, Praveen Paul, Jankidas and Jagdeep with Indrani Mukherjee, Jayshree T, Jeevan, Ranjeet, Bobby, Sapru.

Story and screenplay of this movie was written by K.P. Pathak and dialogues were written by Prayag Raj. Kamlakar was the editor of this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 11.05.1972.

This movie had five songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi and composed by Sonik-Omi.

Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar were the singers for the songs in this movie.

01 Ho…chor…hamne phansaaya Lata Mangeshkar
02 Bol meri gudiya gudde ke sang jaayegi Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar 24.01.2009
03 Aa jaa meri jawaani ko mastaani ko Lata Mangeshkar Being discussed today
04 Ae phooljhadi ae gulchhadi Mohd Rafi
05 Sun le naagraja sun le mere devta Asha Bhonsle

Today’s song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and on screen it is performed by Jayshree T. If one looks at the video without listening the full song somebody could well mistake it for a song sung by Asha Bhonsle.

But this is a different song where we see Jayshree T performing in front of two ‘daakus’ (Jeetendra and Jagdeep) who have kidnapped Mama (Jeevan with his daughter) and all this is done to ensure that Mama (Jeevan) believes that there is a ‘hamshakal’ of Bharat (Jeetendra) and he can tell his big brother Ram Singh (Shatrughan Sinha) about this, who is planning to kill Bharat, to get all the estate of his father on his name. However, the movie ends with everything going well as planned by the ‘director’ for the ‘audience’ 😊

I am reproducing below a brief about this movie as given on IMDB which can be helpful to understand the overall ‘plot’ 😊

“Thakur is a rich and wealthy man. He has two sons, the elder is Ram, who is married but frequents a prostitute Munnibai. The second son is Bharat, who is unmarried, and is good, virtuous, and devoted to his family, and expected to marry Roopa. While disciplining his elder son, Thakur has a heart-attack and passes away, leaving the administration of the estate to his younger son and daughter-in-law, the wife of Ram, Gayatri. This does not auger well with Ram and Mamaji, and they attempt to force Bharat to sign the estate over to them. When they fail, they conspire to kill him, and take over the estate from Gayatri. Bharat overhears this, and goes along with Ram’s plan to kill him. He then returns as Daaku Mangal Singh, his look-alike, in order to set things right. Things seem to be going well, until Bharat finds himself in a tight corner when he is accused of killing himself.”

Let us now listen to today’s song … and add one more song to the tally of songs of ‘Bhai Ho To Aisa-1972’ …

Song-Mann ka ye panchhi haaye kare kya (Sabak)(1973) Singer-Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, Md-Usha Khanna

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

mann ka ye panchhi haayye kare kya
sone ke pinjre mein qaid ho gaya
zindagi ye phad phadaake haayye reh gayee
zaalim zamane ne kaat diye par
mann ka ye panchhi haayye kare kya
sone ke pinjre mein qaid ho gaya
zindagi ye phad phadaake haayye reh gayee
zaalim zamane ne kaat diye par
mann ka ye panchhi haayye kare kya
sone ke pinjre mein qaid ho gaya

aag hamaarey dil mein lagi hai ae
phir bhi jawaani naach rahi hai ae
aag hamaarey dil mein lagi hai
phir bhi jawaani naach rahi hai ae
apne kiye pe khush hai zamaana
hum to bane hain sabka nishaana
zindagi ye phad phadaake haayye reh gayee
zaalim zamaane ne kaat diye par
mann ka ye panchhi haayye kare kya
sone ke pinjre mein qaid ho gaya

jaayein kahaan par udd na sakey dil
raah andheri haayye rey mushkil
jaayein kahaan par udd na sakey dil
raah andheri haayye rey mushkil
duniya ke bheed mein hosh kho gaya
milta nahin hai koi raasta
zindagi ye phad phadaake haayye reh gayee
zaalim zamaane ne kaat diye par
mann ka ye panchhi haayye kare kya
sone ke pinjre mein qaid ho gaya
