The Pancham song in this post is again from a movie from the year 1970. The title of this movie is ‘Ehsaan’. It was directed by Shiv Kumar for ‘Sargam Chitra, Bombay’. It was produced by S.J. Rajdeo. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 09.10.1970. It had Joy Mukherjee, Anjana, Rajendranath, Helen, Shabana, Aruna Irani, K.N. Singh, Madan Puri, Bipin Gupta, Sunder, Tuntun, Johny Whisky, Sulochana Chatterjee, Azad, Sheri, Renu, Rajan Kapoor, and wonder child Boby. They were supported by Shri Bhagwan, Viju Khote, Uma Dutt, Kamal Deep, P.K. Naidu, Dhanraj, Haroon, Bhagwan Sinha, Prince Arjun, Moolchand and dogs Roxy & Rani.
Geet Kosh mentions this movie ‘Ehsaan’ as belonging to the genre of social movies. However from the little that I watched of this movie, this movie could well be considered a spy movie.
The story of this movie ‘Ehsaan’ was written by R.K. Bannerjee and its dialogues were written by Mahmood Sarosh. Editing of this movie was done by I.M. Kunnu. This movie has six songs penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri which were composed to music by R.D Burman. The singers for this movie are Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mohd Rafi and Kishore Kumar.
If we examinethe number of the songs composed by Pancham year-wise from 1961 to 1970 we can see that during this decade Pancham had already created more than hundred songs during these ten years. In subsequent posts, we will look at the corresponsing figures for the next decade (viz for years 1971 to 1980).
