“Kaanch Ki Gudiya”(1961) was directed by H S Rawail for Roshni Films, Bombay. The movie had Manoj Kumar, Saeeda Khan, Leela Chitnis, Tarun Bose, Mumtaz Begum, Krishan Dhawan, Manorama, Iftikhar, Dulari, Jagdish Raj, Soda Water, Keshto Mukherjee, Leela Mishra, Shobha Khote, Randhir, Devika, Kundan, Keshav, Ramnath, Rajrani, Ridku etc. in it.
“Kaanch Ki Gudiya”(1961) had six songs in it. Three songs have been covered in the past.
Here is the fourth song from the movie to appear in the song. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt. Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Suhrid Kar. This song sounds like a joyous song, but it is picturised as a mujra song. In most mujra songs, the female dancer is dressed in kathak style, and she peforms a sad kathak dance with a persecuted look on her face while performing mujra. But in this case, the dancer is dressed in Bharatnatyam style and she performs a happy joyous dance. This must be the happiest and peppiest mujra dance song in a Hindi movie. 🙂
Also, this must be one the very few mujra song penned by Shailendra. Or it could well be the case that the song was penned for some other situation but it was picturised in a way that was not intended while the song was created.
