“Do Haath 100 Bandooken”(1974) was a dubbed movie from South. It was directed by Saraswati Kumar for Ravi International , Madras. This partially colour “social” movie had Vijaylalitha, Ratna, Raj Babu, Thyagrau, Vijaybbahnu, Bhimraj, Ramkrishna etc in it.
When the makers decided to dub the movie into Hindi, they translated the songs into Hindi and recorded them in the same voices that sang the songs in the Original movie. In the past, South Indian movie makers have hired experts from Hindi movies to do that but it appears that this moviemaker decided to cut corners and he got it done inhouse. The same lyricist who penned the original lyrics was asked to translate them into Hindi. The translation appears verbatim translation using Tamil Hindi dictinary and the Hindi lyrics do not make much sense to Hindi audience. I think this must have been a major reason why this movie failed miserably at the Hindi box office.
The movie had five songs in it. They were all penned by Shashi. Music was composed by Satyam.
Here is the first song from “Do Haath 100 Bandooken”(1974). It is sung by Vani Jairam and female chorus. As mentioned above, this lyrics fail to make much sense to a listener of Hindi movie songs.
Only audio of the song is available. I can only guess that it was a dance song. I am not sure what was the story of the movie so I cannot guess the context of the song.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
