Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 51
Here’s one more rare song sung by Asha Bhosle – “Jaam Honthon Se Laga Loon” from “Kahin Aar Kahin Paar” (1971). It is written by Jan Nisar Akhtar and composed by Ganesh.
I have already presented one more fast paced song from this movie – Dil Mein Badi Badi Baatein Hain – and also “Dil Hai Hamara Jise Chaha Dil Diya”- the second and the ninth song of this series.
Kahin Aar Kahin Paar (1971), was directed by Maruti (comic actor) for producer S. Srivastava. Music Composer was Ganesh and the songs were written by Jaan Nisar Akhtar, Asad Bhopali and S H Bihari.
The movie starred Joy Mukherjee, Vimi, Helen, Nadira, Sheikh Mukhtar, Anwar Hussain plus several others in supporting roles
The Story is:
The film opens with a CID agent (Joy Mukherjee) arriving at an airport—likely in a remote setting like Sikkim—where he is greeted by a strange “madman” and his dog.
The villain, Rosa (Nadira), runs a den of dancers including Princess (Vimi), Helen, and Pepita (Jayshree T.).
Princess is summoned to Rosa’s place, where she witnesses the murder of her own father, orchestrated by Rosa’s goons.
Posing as a smuggler, the CID agent meets Mr. Darko (Anwar Hussain), but is secretly bugged by Rosa—she orders him eliminated.
In a bizarre and dramatic turn, the agent ends up physically fighting M.B. Shetty’s wrestler. A live karate-like duel unfolds and to everyone’s surprise, the agent triumphs.
As with many Bollywood musicals of the era, the narrative intersperses action with vibrant dance sequences featuring Helen and others.
The story continues with the agent dismantling Rosa’s criminal operations, offering rescue or redemption for Princess, and culminating in justice, romance, and closure.
This song appears in a nightclub/dance sequence run by Rosa (Nadira), where Vimi performs in glamorous cabaret style. It is staged to entertain the villains and their guests while also serving as a dramatic backdrop to the hero’s undercover mission.
Asha Bhosle’s sultry, velvety vocals enhance the seductive effect. The music has a cabaret/jazz-club flavour, with prominent brass, rhythmic percussion, and Western-style arrangements typical of late-60s/early-70s Bollywood nightclub numbers. The orchestration heightens the sense of drama and glamour, aligning with the onscreen performance.
The song reflects a time in Bollywood when cabaret numbers became an essential part of crime and thriller films, adding both glamour and narrative tension.
The heroine, Vimi lip syncs and dances to this song.
On the occasion of Asha Bhonsle’s birthday today (8 September 2025), here is this forgotten gem of Asha Bhonsle from a forgotten movie.

Song-Jaam honthon se lagaaa loon to bura kya hai (Kahir Aar Kahin Paar)(1971) Singer-Asha Bhonsle,Lyrics-Jaan Nisaar Akhtar, MD-Ganesh
Lyrics:
jaam honthon se laga loon
toh bura kya hai
jaam honthon se laga loon
toh bura kya hai
aag seene kee bujha loon
toh bura kya hai
jaam honthon se laga loon
toh bura kya hai
woh jo apne na rahe
unse shikaayat kya
ho o woh jo apne na rahe
unse shikaayat kya
apna gham unse kahoon
iskee zaroorat kya
dard ko dil mein daba loon
to bura kya hai
aag seene kee bujha loon
toh bura kya hai
jaam honthon se laga loon
toh bura kya hai
kuchh bhee haasil na hua mujhko zamaaane se
o o o
kuchh bhee haasil na hua mujhko zamaaane se
aaj bachte hain jo aankh milaaane se
main hoon khud aaankh chura loon
to bura kya hai
aag seene kee bujha loon
toh bura kya hai
jaam honthon se laga loon
toh bura kya hai
door ab kyun na rahoon
unke khayaalon se
o o o
door ab kyun na rahoon
unke khayaalon se
kam se kam bach to sakoon
dil ke sawaalon se
bekhudee aur badha loon
to bura kya hai
aag seene kee bujha loon
toh bura kya hai
jaam honthon se laga loon
toh bura kya hai
