Blog Day : |

The blog keeps achieving various landmarks in due course of time. Some landmarks are more frequent than others. The blog completing a century of songs is the most noticeable and most frequent landmark. We have seen as many as 193 such landmarks. With this post, we arrive at the 194th blog century mark. Put simply, this song post is the song post number 19400 for the blog.
There are some other kind of century landmarks too that we achieve from time to time. One such landmark is century of songs by artists, or century of songs by guest contributors. As many as 85 artists (39 Music directors, 33 lyricists and 23 singers have touched century posts each. In some cases, these artists have even reached several thousands of posts. In other words they have achieved many centuries for themselves. For example, Lata Mangeshkar has more than 4000 song posts in the blog as a playback singer.
This blog is now a collaboration of like minded music lovers who contribute in the running of the blug in a big measure. The blog has 7144 guest posts from 32 contributors. Some of the regular contributors have reached not just hundreds but even thousands of posts of their own. With time, the word guest contributor has become a misnomer because they are very much an integral part of the blog. I prefer using the word blog regular for these blog contributors.
With such a large number of posts, keeping track of various landmarks often becomes a tough task. Some of the landmaarks even gets overlooked. For instance the last few artists reached their centuries unnoticed. For example, Sulochana Kadam became the latest centurion as a playback singer but this feat went unnoticed. Prior to her, Suresh Wadkar,Shailendra Singh and Bhupinder Singh too reached their century marks rather unnoticed by most people.
We can say that these days several artists are in their eighties and ninetees and their tallies are not receiving the required attention. In the past, when I noticed that some artists are reaching their centuries, I would consciously posts songs by them to see them through to the landmark. But now a days, some artists are staying in their nervous ninetees for long durations.
Another landmark that is getting ignored these days in that of YIPPEED movies. There are lots and lots of movies that have just one song left to be covered and these songs are available. But I am not giving these movies their dues. This year only 52 movies have been YIPPEED. The all time record is 204 movies that got YIPPEED during 2013.
For this century post, I have decided to combine this blog century with the maiden century post of a lyricist who was in his nervous ninetees for many years. This artist reached his nervous ninetees on 23 January 2022. More than three years have passed and he has only inched upto 99 in such a long time. Not any longer. With this post, that artist, a lyricist reaches his 100th song post in the blog. He becomes the 34th lyricist to achieve this feat.
This lyricist who completes his century with this post is Tanveer Naqvi, a lyricist who was active from 1940s to 1950s. Names of movies where he penned lyrics include such well known movies viz. Anmol Ghadi (1946), Jugnu (1947),Baaraaati (1954), Khaandaan (1955), Naata (1955), Shirin Farhad (1956), Mr X (1957), Miss 58 (1958) etc.
A casual music fan could well guess that Tanvir Naqvi was a lyricist who wrote serious songs or husn o ishq songs or may be rona dhona songs. This century song will come a surprise to such fans. This song is a light hearted song. It is sung by Rafi and it is picturised as a fun song on Sundar and others.
This song is from the movie “Bade Ghar Ki Bahu”(1960) which by all accounts was trhe swan song of Tanveer Naqvi in Hindi movies. “Bade Ghar Ki Bahu”(1960) was produced by J S Puri and was directed by Kundan Kumar. The movie had Geeta Bali, Abhi Bhattacharya, Kuldeep Kaur, Sunder, Shammi, Neeru, Bhagwan Sinha, Niranjan Sharma, Chanda Bai, Sheila Vaz, Nagpal etc. in it. The movie had seven songs in it. Five songs have been covered in the blog.
Here is the sixth song from “Bade Ghar Ki Beti”(1960). This song is a forgotten fun song sung by Rafi. Chitragupta is the music director.
What a song it is to lighten up one’s mood.
Here is this song, the 100th song of Tanveer Naqvi as a lyricist and 19400th song post for the blog. This blog century took 28 days, which is a decent rate of scoring a blog century by present day standard. Nowadays we are scoring one century every month. If we can maintain this rate then we can expect to reach the landmark of 20000 song posts by next year in February or March.
I take this opportunity to thank one and all whose continued support and encouragement is ensuring that the blog keeps chugging along merrily, adding “new” songs everyday without any breaks. Here is hpoing that we will continue to reach newer and newer landmarks and will continue to cover many more songs in the process.

This seems to be my lucky day, as I have reached another happy/full of hope song by Rafi Sahab. I am not even sure how reached this post of September 15. I am glad that I did and heard this song.
Zamana is definitely changing at the turn of the millennium. “Zamaana” as a quantum of time can mean anything, a decade or a year or a century.
Something tells me that there is no recognized link between the specific cultural term, “zamaana” and a measurable, fundamental quantum of time in science. Yet.

Heartiest Congratulations Atul Sir jee on 19400th post on the blog !!!
Also, Congratulations on covering 100th lyrics of Tanveer Naqvi. Thanks for this post.
Sorry, but Shailendra Singh still requires many (or around 27 songs) for his century on the blog. ( the centuries of singers (mentioned above) might have been unnoticed by most but not by someone sending their songs 🙂 )
Thanks and Regards,

Thanks. I did not check Shailendra Singh’s statistics. I may have mistaken Bhupinder Singh or Suresh Wadkar figures with his figures. Nevertheless, he alongwith some more artists is a contender for future centurions in the blog.
