I cannot but help notice that the festivals of Holi and Deepawali are almost diametrically opposite to each other. They fall six months apart. Holi is observed on Poornima. Deepawali is observed on Amawasya. Holi is celebrated in day time (mostly first half of the day). Deepawali is celebrated at night time. On the day of Holi, roads are deserted. Public transport services that are usually jam packed run empty on this day. During Deepawali, public transport services run overbooked and there is no way one can get accomodation on trains on this day.
The blog behaviour too reflects this. On the day of Holi, our Holi related posts appear in the first half of the day. In case of deepawali, posting deepawali related songs at day time appears rather inappropriaate so these posts often appear in the afternoon or evenings.
To complicate maatters, all the well known and even not so well known Deepawaali realated songs have been covered in the blog during the previous 17 Deepawali festival days in the blog. So covering deepawali related songs on this occasion is becoming challenging. But seeing that Deepawali is the most important festival in India in every respect, we still have a good supply of Deepawali songs in the form of film songs as well as Non film songs.
Taliking of non film songs, this blog had covered a non film deepawali song sung by Juthika Roy during the deepawali of 2012 that fell on 13 November 2012. That was a special deepawali day for the blog when the final song of the day, another NFS, saw the blog reach 7000 song posts in the blog.
When I checked up, I found that Juthika Roy has sung at least one more Deepawali related non film song. There could be more such songs as well. Details about the lyricist and music director of this song is not known. I request our knowledgeable readers to shed deepawali light 🙂 on the details of this song.
