#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————

In this post I am presenting a duet sung by Kishore Kumar and Sharda which is composed by Sharda. I guess this is one of the very few duets they sung together and this must be the first of them to appear on this blog today.

The movie ‘Mandir Masjid-1977’ was directed by Mohammad Hussain for ‘K.K. Movies, Bombay’. Krishan Karim was the producer of this movie which was passed by the Censor Board on 20.07.1977. This movie has in its cast Nutan, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Raza Murad, Yogita Bali, Sajid Khan, Jaya Kaushalya, Rajesh Laher, Nazir Hussain, Lalita Pawar, Madan Puri, Jagdeep, Sanjana, Praveen Paul, and Kamran. They were supported by Shivraj, Mushtaq Merchant, Shaikh, Moolchand, Sabir, Master Hussain, Master Shahid, and others. Jagirdar, Murad, Manorama and Bhawan had special appearances in this movie. Story of this movie was written by S. Raza and its screenplay and dialogues were written by Kafeel Azar. Editing of this movie was done by Moosa Mansur.

‘Mandir Masjid-1977’ has five songs. They were penned by Kafeel Azar(two songs), Aish Kanwal(one song), Hasrat Jaipuri (one song) and Akhtar Aarsi Lakhnavi(one song). (Geet Kosh mentions Akhtar Aarsi Lakhnavi as lyricist for this movie but his name in not included in the titles of this movie). Music for this movie was composed by Sharda.

As the title of this movie suggests it seems to be a movie stressing the need of religious harmony. I am reproducing below what a link of the movie on internet mentions about the plot of this movie.

This movie Highlights the need for Hindu-Muslim unity and tries to tell that the same blood runs through the vein of both communities. Shaukat feeling that he was the cause for the death of his friend Mahendra Pratap’s son, returns the child born to his wife at the doorsteps of his friend’s house. Mahendra Pratap having passed away, his wife Bharati brings up Shaukat’s son along with her own son. Providence ultimately unites the two families.

I have not watched this movie so I can nott say much about this movie here. However since I was keeping a tab on this movie’s songs since long, I had presented a song from this movie in the past.

I have no recollections of listening to this song. I was only aware of the ‘Qawwaalee’ song from this movie that I had presented in the past.

Today I am presenting the second song from this movie. As mentioned above this song is a duet song and it is a nice romantic duet song sung Kishore Kumar and Sharda. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and music is composed by Sharda.

I am unable to identify the actors on screen whom this song is picturised. I guess that they are Jaya Kaushalya and Rajesh Laher.

Let us now listen to this song which seems to be a rare and never heard before song. I would request knowledgeable readers who have watched this movie to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

KK and SHARDA duet song is there also in movie NAINA 1973 with music by SHANKAR JAIKISHAN. So I think this could be 2nd song and not 1st duet song of KK and SHARDA.

Yes, one Kishore Sharda duet from ‘Nainaa’ is already on the blog (and incidentally presented by me). So, this should be considered as second KK-Sharda duet.

Thank you for pointing it out Sir jee.

Regards,

Avinash
