#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
Today’s song is from the movie ‘Anarbala-1961’. This movie seems to be an obscure movie of its time. However the songs of this movie that are available are great songs. This observation has often been made by our members that these so called B or C grade movies had some great music in them. These movies may have become obscure, but their music deserve better fate
‘Anarbala-1961’ is one such movie. The movie appears to be lost, but some of its songs have survived and have become available online.
The song under discussion is one such song in the voice of Suman Kalyanpur. I would like to express my gratitude to the provider of this sweet song on the internet.
‘Anarbala-1961’ was directed by Raja Yagnik for ‘Unity Productions, Bombay’. It had Daljeet, Krishna Kumari, Tiwari, Maruti, Neelofar, Pal Sharma, Babu Raje, Pandit Iqbal, Moni Chatterjee, Kesari, Shree Bhagwan, Jeevankala and other. Geet Kosh lists eight songs for this movie written by lyricist Ramesh Chandra Pandey. Music for this movie was composed by Bulo C Rani. However the singer’s for individual songs are mentioned for only four songs against them. The singers list provided at the bottom of the details had names of the singers as Geeta Dutt, Manna Dey, Subir Sen, Suman Kalyanpur and Sudha Malhotra. Three songs from this movie have been posted on the blog earlier. In the list of songs provided in Geet Kosh one song has the name of singer S. Balbir, so his name needs to be included in the above list.
Today I am presenting the fourth songs from this movie ‘Anarbala-1961’ in the voice of Suman Kalyanpur. Only audio of this song is available. Lyrics are by Ramesh Chandra Pandey and music is composed by Bulo C Rani.
Song-O pardesee chhaila mukhda na modna (Anarbala)(1961) Singer-Suman Kalyanpur, Lyricist-Ramesh Chandra Pandey, MD-Bulo C Rani
Lyrics
o o o
o o o o
o pardesee chhailaa
mukhdaa naa modnaa
dil leke jaanewaale ae
dil ko naa todnaa
o pardesee chhailaa
mukhdaa naa modnaa
dil leke jaanewaale ae
dil ko naa todnaa
pathh mein tumhaare ae
palkein bichhaa doon
pathh mein tumhaare ae
palkein bichhaa doon
aao to mukh pe
ghoonghat giraa loon
haan haan
ghoonghat giraa loon
ghoonghat ko aa ke
meethhee nazron se kholnaa
dil leke jaanewaale
dil ko naa todnaa
laaj kee maaree ee
main chhup jaaoon
laaj kee maaree ee
main chhup jaaoon
aage tumhaare ae daaman badhhaaoon
haan haan
daaman badhhaaoon
jeewan kaa naataa saajan
daaman se jodnaa
dil leke jaanewaale
dil ko naa todnaa
preet kee dagar mein meraa
pehlaa kadam hai
manzil ke saathhee mere
tumko qasam hai ae
tumko qasam hai
beech dagar mein laa ke
bainyyaan na chhodnaa
dil le ke jaanewaale ae
dil ko naa todnaa
o pardesee chhailaa
mukhdaa naa modnaa
dil leke jaanewaale ae
dil ko naa todnaa
