“Dhadkan” (1947) was directed by Zahoor Raja for Raja Movietone, Bombay. This by now forgotten movie had Zahoor Raja, Jyoti, Mishra, Murad, Chandrika etc in it.
The movie had nine songs in it. One of these songs has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Dhadkan” (1947) to appear in the blog. This song is a duet which is sung by Jyoti and G M Durrani.
Zahoor Raja, the director of the movie, is the lyricist of this song. G M Durrani is the music director (under the name of Gunjan).
Only the audio of this song is available. But seeing that Jyoti was the lead actress in the movie, it is clear that she had sung for herself. Zahoor Raja was the lead actor of the movie, so my guess is that he lip synced in G M Durrani’s voice.
The lyrics are quite nice and they are the real star of this song. This forgotten song is a a lovely song to listen to. It sounds so fresh even though the song was recorded 80 years ago.
